My brother and I both have MDX'S. I recently
took a road trip to VA to check out his new
ride (black touring/navi). We were at the mall
and he went to start his up and it would not
start. It would not turn over at all. He called
the 800# & the tow truck took 1hr & 1/2 to arrive
and it went back to the dealership. They told
him take his fuel pump went out. They had to
have one shipped from another dealership and
as of now it's still not running. Hopefully
they can fix this problem. This may be a isolated
incident or maybe a recall or something. Any views would be appreciated. I will keep you
updated on when his x is back on the road..

ps: His truck is only 2 months old!!!!!!!

NO, SORRY, WRONGO!

Ain't no way a FUEL PUMP would prevent the MDX (or 99% of other vehicles) ffrom TURNING OVER!

This is Day #1 of "diagnosing problems" in even a HIGH SCHOOL auto shop class -- won't start:

engine cranks

yes no

Now it is POSSIBLE that sumthin' did happen to the fuel pump, but the decision tree to get to FUEL PUMP starts at YES, and your brother's tree starts at NO.

BE VERY AFRAID!

They said it was a part in the fuel pump
that went bad, but they would not specify. He's
back on the road....I personally think
that they just told him that. also Acura's customer service was very poor.

On your repair order will be part numbers for all of the parts used. Read them off, and I'll tell you what was replaced.

renov8r -- I agree with you, but remember: to the uninitiated, "won't turn over" = "won't crank" = "won't fire". You and I and most enthusiasts who have spent many a pleasant hour working on cars of all types, know that "won't turn over" = "won't crank" = "engine doesn't spin", which can result from several faults that all cause the starter not to spin the engine. "Won't fire", on the other hand, means that the engine will spin, but the fuel/air mixture won't light-off to make the engine run -- and that's either an ignition problem or a fuel problem.

coach61 -- did the engine really not turn over (meaning that it didn't spin when the key was in the Start position), or did it spin and not start?

We participants in acuramdx.org tend to be purists!:D

spin and not start!

OK, good chance that the fuel pump was it. Since his was a new vehicle, it was probably an "infant mortality" failure -- a part failed very early in its life. That's not unusual with cars or with things electronic. He and you should be able to look forward to long, reliable rides.

very wierd to hear. Check with service supervisor.
