Hey-Jude
Okay... if I owned a $40K car in high school... I just can't even imagine. First of all....what are you going to have in 10 years... in 20 years ?? Will you be able or willing to work your way back DOWN the car ladder if necessary? That would just be painful.

Personally, I wouldn't trade a thing. The 1976 Plymouth Valiant that I drove to high school, the yellow 1981 Toyota Celica that would spin out in the rain and occassionally had to be roll-started in college .... makes the MDX so much sweeter.

34 here btw and still feeling like I'm too young to have such a nice car.
mdxpecting
Indeed! I am also 34 and the 1978 Chrysler Volarie I had in high school (with a 3-speed shift on the floor and about 2 feet of play in the steering wheel) make me truly appreciate my MDX. Whatever your means, the only justification I can see for purchasing a vehicle in the class of the MDX for a teenager is safety.

I'm 35 and the cars in my life are as follows:

1980 Chevy Malibu
Datsun 200SX
Dodge Reliant Station Wagon (all belonging to my parents)
1988 Chevy Celebrity Eurosport (drove it 1990-1996)
1992 Taurus Wagon (Got in 96)
1993 Taurus Wagon (Got in 97 and am still driving)
Both Tauruses were from Government auctions so no options besides a/c (thank God for that!)
DH drives a 1988 Olds Ciera with 135k miles and leaking windows and rust.

Do we deserve an MDX or what? I challenge anyone on this board to say we don't!!!!
:2:

55 chevy (biggest regret selling)
59 chevy (like I said should have kept
the 55)
67 Volkswagon Beetle (new)(2nd most fun..best AM radio yet, a Bendix)
63 Triumph TR3 (it looked like more fun than it was)
72 Triumph TR6 (sounded and looked great but above 45mph nothing special)
64 Dodge Dart (torqueflite.. xlnt)
72 Datsun pickup (new)
74 Datsun B210 (new, ok..but why?)
76 Toyota Celica (new)
82 Toyota Celica GT (new)
(most reliable)
85 Honda Civic (wive's car)
91 Ford Tortoise St. Wagon (new) (least reliable)
86 Mazda RX-7 (most fun & reliable)
96 Mercury Villager (boringly practical)
02' MDX (most luxurious and nicer to drive for an SUV)
wife shopping for a 'personal' SUV...CRV or RAV4 ...

O.K., I'll fess up. I'm 38 and the list of vehicles I've owned are, from first to current:

Previous:

72 Ford Maverick (first car, definitely well used)
76 Ford Mustang (piece of crap)
85 Nissan Sentra (first NEW car)
88 Ford Taurus (used - good, reliable car)
89 Mercury Sable (DH brought into the marriage on a lease)
90 Ford Ranger extended cab (new)
92 Ford Aerostar (DH turned in Sable for this)
93 Ford Ranger extended cab (new)
84 BMW 633csi (got rid of the truck for this one - left when MDX came)

Current:
99 Acura 3.2 TL
02 Acura MDX

I can not imagine starting out with an MDX! IMHO, it seems like it'd be difficult to truly appreciate how wonderful it is without having gone through the trials and tribulations of owning other, lesser vehicles first.

Ok, I'll be 38 in a few months and;

'75 Ford Gran Torino station wagon w/wood sides (Mom's car)
'76 Ford Ranchero (400 cleveland, Holly 4bb, hooker headers . . .)
'70 Pontiac GTO Judge (400 ram air IV, 4spd muncie, 10" posi . . .)
'82 Olds Gutlass Supreme (don't ask, shoulda bought a Trans Am)
'89 Toyota Supra (not bad, not great either)
'92 BMW 318is (sob, LOVED this car - died when we traded in)
'93 Toyota Celica GTS (wife's hand-me-down - she got new car)

Hmmm see the trend - no domestics since Reagan's era . . . I think I paid my dues . . .
dmyles
30 y.o. here.....and here's my history

no car in high school
'87 used Hyundai Excel while in undergrad (no Hyundai EVER again-- thing leaked oil like the Exxon Valdez)
'93 new Toyo corolla
'96 new Nissan sentra
'96 used Acura Integra
'02 MDX!

Okay, so with the exception of the Hyundai, I've generally had good quality cars and have gradually been progressing upwards. As a single female, I place a lot of value on having a car vehicle that won't leave me stranded. As far as I'm concerned, I'm at the pinnacle...the X is my dream car and I'm happy as a pig in mud. :D

....after reading this thread and the other one taking a poll on readers' ages that stops with a "over 41 category". Now that hurts.

I have owned 20 vehicles on two continents in my 47 years of driving. My history or ownership took me awhile to recall, but I think I've included all of them. If I missed one or two, they weren't worthy of remembering.

In order of purchase.

47 Ford coupe (great car for a 16 year old)
51 Merc coupe (Lots of custom work)
55 Chevy (Car of the year)
39 Morris (My first English car, in Europe)
54 Jaguar (Great looking, lots of tune-ups)
64 Ford 2 dr. (First new car)
66 Chrysler Imperial (a fast boat)
68 Chrysler New Yorker (More reliable than today Chryslers)
71 VW beetle (My town runabout and fun)
76 Merc Cougar (A lot of hood)
80 Audi (Lots of mechanical problems)
83 Caddie (More trouble than the Audi)
85 Porsche 944
86 Bronco (Full size and lots of utility)
89 Acura Legend (Great quality and Service)
91 Lexus 400 (Nicest car I ever owned)
95 Chrysler LHS (A complete and total POC)
96 Villager (First and last minivan)
96 Honda Accord ex
98 Honda Accord 6 cyl
02 Acura MDX (Hope to keep this for several years)

I have surely earned the joy of driving the MDX.

I'll be 35 next month. I actually had the 40K car in High School because Daddy worked for an auto company. He could lease cars for his teen-agers and the company paid for the insurance. Every 10-12 months until I finished college I had a brand new car. Leather, heated Seats, the works. Okay fast forward to College Graduation. Dad said I needed to earn some money on my own since he spent all his on my education;) So, luckily he went car shopping with me because they could see me coming! I ended up with a new1990 Toyota Celica with no leather, no heated seats, no power anything, and they took the good tires off and made me come back for the car when they put cheap ugly tires on it. I paid 12.75 %financing because I had no credit. OH YES IT WAS PAINFUL!! However I paid off the car and drove it until we were planning a family. I did learn to save money and was able to buy a RX300 in 1999. Thank goodness I could finally afford heated seats myself!:2: Now I'm waiting patiently for my MDX.
rvehock
I am 45 years old and here is my list:

1964 Impala SS
1964 VW Convertible
1972 VW Convertible
1974 VW Thing
1973 Porche 914
1966 Chevy Surburban
1981 Toyota Pickup
1982 Chevy Blazer
1962 Chevy II Nova
1968 Bronco (Bobtail)
1985 Toyota Pickup 4X4
1986 Toyota ForeRunner
1986 Nissan Maxima
1987 Conquest TSI
1996 Nissan Quest
1997 Mitsubishi Galant

This is only a partial list, I also have owned at least ten different off road sand rails, three wheelers, and street bikes.
mgmdx
I'm 38, and the vehicles that I have owned over the years are as follows.

'72 Mercury Comet (parents hand-me-down car that I drove in high school)
'75 Oldsmobile Starfire (totaled when my brakes went out)
'76 Oldsmobile Starfire (my first stick shift car, used many parts from my previous Starfire)
'76 Mercury Capri (died after year and a half of ownership, sold to junk yard for $50)
'85 Honda Aero scooter (too slow, sold it and got a motorcycle instead)
'83 Kawasaki GPZ550 (fun bike, sold it to get new rims, tires, and suspension for 280Z)
'77 Datsun 280Z (fun car to drive, had to give it up after 12 years of ownership for a 4-door sedan when 1st child was born)
'89 Nissan Pathfinder SE (great SUV, still in the family)
'98 Nissan Maxima SE (sporty sedan that replaced my 280Z, wife had to compromise and let me get a stick shift)
'01 Acura MDX (the best so far, kid and stuff hauler that wife drives 95% of the time)

At this point, it is difficult to top the value that MDX provides.
SonShine
I agree w/Hey Jude: my wife and I still feel that this car is a little "too-nice" for us (I guess we're not used to all this luxury :) ).

Our cars:

Me:

'85 Cherokee Sport (actually my parents' car but I drove it in HS)
'89 Nissan Maxima SE (great car - regretting I sold it)
'01 Honda S2K (making me forget my Maxima!)

Her:
'87 MB 190E
'97 Jeep Grand Cherokee (ugh, those repair bills...)
'02 MDX

Not a whole lot of history there as we tended to keep our cars for awhile...which is our plan for the MDX!

BTW I'm 33 going on 34...

In the last 25 years I have owed 12 Honda products (and several other products, as well), currently I have an 02 TL-S, a 99 CL, and my new 02 MDX. I never thought I owned a car that was more than I deserve!
MrPrescott
35 here.

'73 Olds Cutlass Supreme (350 Rocket! sold for $100 w/ 139k on the O'. Engine was solid, body was rust.)

'80 Chevy Citation (how embarassing, dumped it in 5 months)

'82 Toyota Celica GT (traded w 132k on the O. Also rusty)

'91 Nissan NX2000 (awesome! Hit 130 mph once. Sold w/ 125k on the O.)

'92 Nissan 240 SX (wife's, much slower than the NX)

'97 Nissan Maxima (nice, but not as much fun as the NX)

'95 Honda Accord (wife's, solid transportation)

'02 Acura MDX (I have arrived!)

Next?: Something smaller, fast, tight, and fun! in about 3 years. Maybe a Bimmer 3-series, Audi A4, or similar.:20:
Lrpba300
Hey Jude, u said a mouthful! That's SO true. You sometimes don't get a good apprie. for what you have, unless u go through some ruff time, to apprie. the MDX. I'm not as old as Fvince, but I've had alot of cars. I'll try & remember them all.....................
1. '56 Chevy 2 dr. cpe. (I built the eng., tranny, Lov'd that car!)
2. '65 Corvair (lots of work, but boy was it fast when I was done!)

Tim:

You've got to be kidding!! I can't believe you've owned all those!! If so, you should get an award just for remembering them all (or at least most of them). You've missed your calling....you should be a writer for Car and Driver or something since it looks like you've driven every make and model.
TheWorm
Great thread, Hey-Jude.

Tim -- wondering which was your fave.

Here are mine/ours. Looks like I'm gettin' more fickle or impatient w/age :) (35 now):
  • '70 Chevy Malibu/Chevelle (307, only power was steering+brakes). My HS hand-me-down. 'rents put in a nice Blaupunkt for me, tho.
  • '85 Mitsu Starion. Ran well to 110k despite eating 3 turbos (all under warranty thanks to CA emissions requirements). Bought for $17.5, sold for $1.2k in '94. Worst resale of any Japanese car from '85, I'm told.
  • '90 (I think) Yamaha Radian 600. Fun. Sold it after almost getting blown off the side of the Bay Bridge.
  • '94 BMW 318 convertible. Gift to myself after b-school. Loved it.
  • '96 Heap Grand Cherokee. Everything you've heard is true. Nonetheless, a good 'ute that you just don't have to care anything about, because Chrysler sure didn't.
  • '96 Honda Accord 4-dr/4-cyl. Wife's. Actually gave up the Bimmer for the Heep and Honda for a lower monthly payment combined. You know how that goes. Reliable but uninspired. She hated it.
  • '98 Honda Accord coupev v6. She liked this one much better.
  • '00 Lexus GS. Replaced the Heap. Love it.
  • '01 MDX. Replaced the Accord for the kid 'n dog. Love it.

Started out kinda slow there...keeping the dealers in business lately, tho! Dunno what's next when the lease on the GS is up. Kinda eyeballing the Infiniti G35 coupe. Like the Boxster.
hondacuraworld
I really did own every one of those! I actually have a list somewhere. When I met my wife, I had 6 cars  , although I was only allowed to keep two at home at any given time. My parents always thought that it was part of the reason I never got into trouble with the law or anything like that, they always knew where I was.....in the driveway with a socket wrench in my hand!

The oil spots on their driveway are almost gone now....it only took 6 years! :D

45 years young:4:

Here are my cars:

1972 Toyota Corona (first car- real beater)
1975 Datsun B210 Fastback (great little car)
1982 Ford Mustang (quart of oil a day..)
1987 Chev Cavalier (kids came)
1992 Buick Gran Regal Sport (lots of power)
1993 Lexus ES 300 (lap of luxury - loved that car)
1996 Toyota Avalon ( no lexus)
1998 Ford Windstar (don't ask)
2002 MDX (vying for first place in my heart)

Plan to hold on to the X for a number of years.
MDXtrous
That explains why you work at a dealer... You probably should own one;)
vip9
Well, my car history is not as illustrous as Tim's :)

1985 Russian-made Niva - did not own but had a part-time use of it while still back on the Continent. Great 4-wheel drive crossover vehicle! (the size of Civic hatchback, but ground clearance of the MDX :D)

1984 Olds Sierra wagon - purchased in 1990. Started falling apart on the way home from a dealer (in Pa). Had to "hand-park" it on the very first day  Had it for 5(!!!) looooong years. :( Consumed more oil than gas!!!

Traded it in for....

1996 Subaru Legacy Wagon - my baby! GREAT CAR!!! Loved every moment of owning it except getting in and out.

Sold it while waiting for...

2001 MDX. Jury is still out.

If I were to buy a car today, it would most likely be E-class or LS430.
JTM
Wow.... Compared with Tim, My list is a LOT shorter..... :2:

'93 Nissan Maxima SE
'02 Acura MDX Touring

Got them new with 7 miles on both of them.
And still have both of them!! :)

Let's see if I can remember them all. I'm 44 and have early stage alzheimers. I may be able to remember them by the mishaps I have had in them:

1981 Ford EXP - I had two crashes in this one. It ended up three different colors
1983 Mazda RX7 - I loved that car. I had my first good job and thought I was rich. Not rich enough for that car! I only wrecked that one once
1985 Mazda 626 - Good basic car. Wrecked once.
1987 Mercedes 190, but it was some special edition. My husband (newly at that time) hated 190s. This one had some hot engine in it and a bunch of special mouldings and spoilers and stuff. It even had a stick. There was a car and driver article about it called "Meet Zie Baron Rip und Tearin". Hubby thought it was cool.
never wrecked this car!

Then first carseat - Small Mercedes way too tight.
Bought a 560SEL in black. I really wanted an Acura Legend. Hubby thought the Acura was boring. Bought me the SEL. I dripped gas on it so he took it from me and bought the Legend like I wanted to begin with. LOVED that car. Drove it almost 90k miles with only one (no make that two) teensy wrecks.
Then came the second carseat and the Legend had lots of miles on it. This time, hubby let me choose my own car....with conditions! I got a Chrysler Town and Country. Loved it. My husband even grew to like it O.K. One wreck with that one. And she hit ME!

This one was a lease since hubby had no intentions of OWNING a Chrysler!

When the lease ran out, the MDX was just coming out. I saw it and loved it. I still needed the 7 seats for carpools and the MDX
Filled that need. It had four wheel drive, essential in the midwest.
It had the old Acura/Honda reliabiity that we loved in the legend.
It was nice enough to want to own for several years until the kids can drive themselves. It will hold golf clubs AND groceries AND kids and it was nicely appointed and HEY! under 40k. What more can you ask for! I looked at the AUDI station wagon and nice as it was, it was far smaller and way overpriced IMHO. Looked at the Ford EXPLODER and well, just didn't feel the quaity could be trusted. So here I am!
Oh, and by the way. I have wrecked my MDX twice! It repaired nicely. It's a good thing my husband loves me :D
TPRENDER
My car list looks like this ( I will put the years acquired):

1981 73 Ford Pinto (hand me down car.....got stolen, custom stereo worth more than the rest of the bucket of bolts)

1982 60 Corvair ( wasn't a collector but my neighbor had restored one and got it for $1200...no heat, no seat belts, death trap, but considered pretty cool in nu-wave days of high school). Parts not avaliable when something would break, lots of middle aged Corvair geeks talking to me in parking lots.

1984 84 Chevrolet Cavalier Type 10 ( first new car purchase, last domestic car purchase, learned about planned obsolecense...very unreliable)

1987 88 Mazda MX-6 (good car.... ran in until 130K miles and until 1994)

1994 94 Mazda 929 (good deal on program car, very luxurious, A/C went out and cost $2500 to fix - traded it instead of paying ridiculous repair... Panasonic makes a very expensive and very poor quality compressor).

1996 95 Infiniti G20 ( great car still have it as second car, small but has nice leather and is relaible)

1999 2000 Infiniti QX4 (first SUV, good vehicle, cheap lease of $419 per month enticed me to dump the A/C'less Mazda 929)

???? 2003 MDX (purchase going to cost hundreds more per month than Qx4 lease did)
hikeleader
Fun subject!
Let's see...38 years old now....

1984 Ford Bronco II - Piece of garbage but got about 65,000 miles out of it in 7 years. Had the wheel seperate itself from the vehicle at 45 MPH in the middle of nowhere PA. Tranny failed at 40,000. My first and last FORD.
1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R - Great car but crashed it in 1995 (fell asleep at the wheel - totalled)
1989 - Used Honda Civic Hatchback 5 speed. No frills but a great little car. Fun to drive and practical.
1997 - Nissan Maxima SE - 5 speed .....what a wonderful vehicle. Never a problem. Beat the crap out of it. Traded it in at 67,000 miles when I wanted to surprise my wife with a 2002 BMW 530i for X-Mas!

I now drive my wife's 1998 Maxima GLE w/ auto tranny. Hate automatic but wife will never learn a stick!

2002 Base MDX coming in September!! Don't think I'll be buying another vehicle for some time!

I had moved to a new rental and had no-place to park it or keep it. I was debating renting a garage but didn't want to keep putting money in. I already had almost $3750 into the engine, $1950 into the transmission, $1500 inot the rear end, and about $3000k into the paint work. I was able to get a good price at $10,000 from a collector. It was a sleeper, It appeared to be stock from outside, except for wider and larger wheels. When you hit the gas the engine hit 3000 rpms the headers opened up and it sounded like a monster and took off. I think everyone for miles around could hear her. I really enjoyed that baby. Constantly pulled over by police if I exceeded the 3000 rpm's or speed limit. The Headers and stainless steel turbo mufflers really made it present. Really a track car.

oh boy, thinking back already dates me. i started with a hand me down fiat 1100 four door sedan i had to get running. the front doors were unique, opened like rear doors on a limo. One time the door flew open and dented the rear fender. Embarrassing to hit yourself! Truly a dog of a car.

Then a 1959 vw beetle, 36 horsepower of pure guts...and hardly any heat. busted up 1st gear, but what do u expect for $200? I put in a new transaxle out of a 64, had all different color body panels, and only rollled once when i was cut off in the snow. but it continued my trip anyhow. nothing could stop that old beetle.

Then a 1970 toyota corona mark 2. Cute car, but well before toyota had its act together, and the choke never was right on it. But fond memories of my first new car. Then 1972 dodge dart, also a 74 dart. 83 chryler new yorker eclass (kept saying it's door was a jar). 86 chevy astrovan, eight seater and towed like heck. 90 lexus ls400, best car i'm ever likely to own. 1992 honda civic, 1993 toyota corolla, 1994 eagle vision tsi, 1998 Mercedes ML320, 2002 Acura RSX and 2002 Acura MDX. well, atleast i've come around to the acura's eventually. i love my x, the mdx that is...and my son loves his x, the rsx that is!

If you read the very first thread that started this post Hey-Jude wrote: Okay... if I owned a $40K car in high school... I just can't even imagine. First of all....what are you going to have in 10 years... in 20 years ?? Will you be able or willing to work your way back DOWN the car ladder if necessary? That would just be painful.

Hey-Jude's point was just where do you go from here? Virtually all of the posters started with relatively small cheap cars and worked their way UP to the MDX. Few people have been so fortunate to start with a $40K+ luxury car as a teenager.

As I said I mean no offense, I am happy that you are in the situation you are in; but Hey-Jude asks an interesting question; what will you be driving in 10 years? 20 years?

Its cool No offensice taken. The people at my school have better cars than me to. There are 2 girls with MDX's too. There is a guy with a Porsche 911 and a handful of Land Rovers. There is also alot of big jacked up trucks. I don't know where to go from my X. I am going to put Rims, Tv, Custom Interior and Custom paint on the MDX. Soon enough. I want a Sports car for my next car like Eclipse GS-T or a Supra TT or a RX-7 TT. But I see maybe 10 years down the road me with something like a S500 like my dads. Thats what i would like to have as a 27-30 years old. Fast yet huge. Am I the youngest in the Forum

1972 Chevy Bel-Air
1980 Dodge Pickup
1982 Chevy Pickup
1986 Mazda GLC
1987 Pontiac Fiero (piece of crap)
1987 Chevy Corvette
1999 Lexus ES300 (still have)
2002 Acura MDX (don't have yet; on order)

I really like SUV's because I have a bad back and they are easy for me to slide into sideways instead of having to "squat down" to climb into and out of a car. I can't imagine what my next vehicle will be. I can afford a Lexus LX470 now, but I just can't for the life of me justify spending that much cash on such an ugly car, that is made and optimized for something that I will never use it for. Soooo... my next ride will probably be another Acura SUV if my new one turns out to be a good or it will be another Lexus SUV if they come up with something more suited for an Urban Dweller and that costs a more reasonable amount of money.

My one and only car has been my '90 Integra. Love the car. Over 200k miles on it and still running great. The exterior has seen much better days, though.

The better half is driving a '96 Civiv coupe and will be driving chaufering the kid around in the X when we get it next week. :(

We're gonna give up one of the cars once the X comes in...my heart says to drop the Civic cuz the Integra is so much more fun...but it looks like we'll be selling the Integra. :28:

That's my sad story.

1998 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0L (loved it, no problems, great quality)
2001 Acura MDX (love it, usual problems - fixed, average quality - still wish MDX was built in Japan, though!)

........and I thought I changed cars like people changed clothes :D

Well, I'm 28 years old and here's my rather boring list :D

Used 1979 Ford Fiesta....remember those?? ;) (high school in 1988) - a real piece of crap that I got rid of real quick.....the front wheel would shudder so violently that I thought it would come off every time I took the car at 65mph on the freeway

Used 1981 Chevy Caprice Classic (senior year in high school - 1990)......I felt like and pretended I was a Deputy Sheriff and kept saying "ten-four" to myself every time I drove this humungous beast - very comfortable ride, but equally unreliable as well - spent almost $1500 in the 6 months I owned it and swore would never buy another American car again

New 1990 Toyota Cressida - Freshman year in college - sold it in 4 months - couldn't afford it ;) big mistake and lost $3000!

Used 1985 Nissan Maxima Sedan - owned 7 months (Freshman and sophomore year in college)

Used 1987 Nissan Maxima - owned 6 months (junior year in college)

New 1991 Nissan Maxima GXE - owned 3 months - wanted an SUV, so sold it (senior year in college)

New 1991 Nissan Pathfinder - owned it for a year through my Senior year and a short while after graduation (Wow did I really keep a car for one whole year - Never learn, do I  )

1995 to 1998 - did not own any cars, worked on a cruise ship to pay off all the debt I'd racked up owning all those cars, fun, fun, fun in the sun :2:

in Jan 1998, moved to California and back to an old beater ......this time I had hopefully wisened up - bought a 1991 Geo Metro (55hp) 3-speed automatic for $1200!

in 8 months moved up to a New 1998 Toyota Corolla and owned it for 2 years

in 1999, I entered the wonderful world of real estate financing and my fortunes changed for the better and in April 2000 traded the corolla for a new 2000 Acura 3.2TL/Navi which opened my eyes to the wonderful world of Acura automobiles and that unreal Navigation system......but this was shortlived......after just 9 short months of ownership the car was stolen, while visiting a client in a relatively bad neighborhood :( ......luckily had another car (a used 1997 Toyota Tercel bought for commuting around town)

Replaced the Acura with a 2001 Toyota 4 Runner (as this unbelievable craving for an SUV crept up within me). 4 months back replaced the 1997 commuter Tercel with a 2003 Toyota Corolla (very very dissatisfied with this car :( )

.....and finally I hope to replace the 4 Runner with a 2003 Acura MDX, Yes finally, after close to 400 posts here.... :D
BigDog
I started this Thread 7/22 I thought I should move over to the One True Thred ;)

Ok, it's another slow day in the building world here in the SF bay area, so I have a little time on my hands. This weekend I was just thinking :27: about all the vehicles I have owned, and how the MDX fits in with a pattern. So lets see what we get after 42 years on this world. :p

1978 - 1986 (His) est. 180k miles
1971 GMC Sprint, 350cu V8, Forest Green
My 1st car, dad gave it to me for graduation. I put BF Goodrich TAs & nice wheels, this was a great date ride, front seat or the bed :2: It had real loose suspension & loose power steering, but it could move!
Sold 1986 $500 (I was such a dumb ass on this 1)

1981 - 1988 (Hers) est. 120k miles
1981 Toyota Tercel, Yellow, 2 door, 4 Speed Manual, this was 1 bare bones ride, I think it was $5000 new
This was my wife's first new car, it did not even have a radio  But this was great car, we took it on all our ski trips. It was a great snow car. For the buck you could not find a better ride.
Sold 1988 $1500

1986 - 1994 (His) est. 65k, miles
1986 Isuzu Trooper LS, Red/Silver, 2 door, 5 Speed Manual, I think it was in the $13k range new
My first new ride & my first SUV. The first 20k miles I thought it was a great ride, last 40k I thought it was a piece of crap! We lost the engine at 55k. When we started looking at MDX, my 1st question that I needed to know, did Acura have Isuzu make this?!?!
Sold $4000, boy I was happy

1988 - 1990 (Hers) est. 160k miles
1986 Audi 4000s, White, 4 Door, 5 Speed Manual, We paid $1000, it was a salesman's car with 140k on it
This was a big move up, great ride, a real performance car! The best thing about it was it 5yr unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty that was transferable :4: boy Audi dropped some bucks on this baby, what deal! Sadly my wife totaled the 4000 on our way to dinner on my 30th birthday. She rear-ended a Ford Econoline 3/4ton Van going about 10mph. The good news is it's bluebook was more than we paid for it & we got down payment of $5000 from insurance out of it.
Totaled

1990 -1998 (Hers) est. 90k miles
1990 Acura Integra GS, Red, 4 Door. All the bells a whistles, 5 Speed Manual, We paid around $18000
This was great car, a very responsive car, felt like a sports car, roomy, nice lines, a good-looking ride. We loved this car.
Trade in $3500 (they got a deal)

1991 - 1993 (His) est. 90k miles
1986 Toyota 1 Ton PU, Tan, Purchased used for $5000 with 45k miles
This was an interim vehicle as I was dumping money into the Trooper
Sold $2500

1993 - Present (His Work) est. 130k miles
1992 Ford F-250 Custom, White, Lumber Rack, Tool Boxes, Purchased used for $13000 with 18k miles
I started my business & this was my workhorse
Turned it over to a job Foreman in 1998, they call it Trigger (after the horse) :)

1994 - 2002 (His-Her) est. 45k miles
1994 Ford Explorer, White Eddie Bauer, 4.0 V6, 5 Speed Manual, New $24000
This became the 3rd vehicle & the replacement for the Trooper, what a step up! Downside, it's a Ford & little things bust at 30k.
Sold $5000

1998 - Present (Hers) est. 60k miles
1998 Audi A4 2.8, Red, 4 Door, All the bells and whistles, 5 Speed Manual, We paid around $33000
My wife loves this car & I like it a lot too :D

1998 - Present (His work) est. 75k miles
1999 Ford SD F-250 4X4 King Cab, 5.4V8, White, Lumber Rack, Tool Boxes, We paid around $26000
OK, the Business was doing great :29: We had a problem early on and need a new engine, I had a bad one off the line, but Ford took care of it after a lot of *****ing.

2000 - Present (His work) est. 20k miles
2000 Ford F150 XL White, Lumber Rack, Tool Boxes, We paid around $17000
This one write out to a Foreman, but he loves it

2002 - Present (His-Her) est. 650 miles :2:
2002 Acura MDX, Touring, Silver we paid $38500
