Problem with History - Click HERE for Original Thread

I haven't seen this mentioned. It's no big deal; still...

The "History" icon in the Trip Computer (with Navigation) seems to be playing hide-and-seek with me. Most of the time, it's inacceassible (grey out); but sometimes (mostly after I put in gas) it becomes accessible. Anyone else got the same problem? Wonder if this is a hardware failure, such as a detector mulfunction, or software failure, which should affect everybody.

Plan to have the dealer take a look when I have my 7500 mile maintenace. I'll post my findings then.

Thought I was done with "History" problems when I graduated from high school. :-)
Mine does that, too. I only noticed it once; it was greyed out at/after fillup for a couple of minutes, then was accessible again. Odd.
The only "oddity" I have seen with my trip history / computer is that it "reset" after about 100 miles. For some reason the gas gauge looked "full" for a few minutes and then turned back to normal (just under full). I wonder if the trip computer was "tricked" into thinking I had filled up again as I has the "History" set to automatic reset on fill ups.

The History isn't accesible (it'll be greyed out) if you haven't entered OK to turn on the Nav computer.

I just checked. The history button remains greyed out, whether Navigation is on or not. Looks like nobody else has the same problem. Guess this is good news, since it only happens to me :(, and is therefore fixable. :)
No this happens to me too - sometimes it's on, sometimes it's not, and I haven't figured out the combination of things that determines why. I'll try Rail's suggestion to see if it works. gh
This must be a fairly common problem. Ours began resetting itself randomly (even showed 34.8 MPG once!) and then it grayed out and could not be accessed. We took it in to the dealer on Monday to have it checked, as well as to have the radio buttons fixed (4 and 5 don't work - also a known problem), a wood steering wheel installed, and a trailer hitch installed. BTW - did you know that if you have a hitch installed by the dealer, it includes an oil cooler and a transmission cooler? Seems like a good deal to me!! Anyway, I filled the tank on the way to the dealer, reset the system - and the History started working again!! It must have heard us talking about taking it in - !! They are going to check it anyway. If I learn anything definitive, I'll let you know.
I have the exact problem! On my second fillup, it showed 36.5 MPG! I think what happened was it included the last mileage in the calculation. I even took a picture of the screen, but didn't post it.

Like I said, this problem does not bother me too much. With 2300 mils on my MDX so far, I am very satisfied with the SUV. I have no other problem with it at all. Just perfect! :)

same problem here.... haven't really tried to diganose/correct yet.
Rail seems to be correct.... thanks
i had the same two probs...on my 2nd tank the trip computer got completely confused and showed "68 mpg". never happened again (10-12 tanks ago). and, i can't access the history until i "ok" the warning screen.
On my recently built touring/navi MDX I have to be in "Park" for the history button to be active. If I go in drive -- disabled, back in park -- enabled, back in drive -- disabled.

Rochester,

U pressing "OK" at the Nav startup screen? Gotta do that to "ungray".
I agree with Rail and The Worm. You have to at least press OK, then you can go to the AC/Trip button to bring up the Trip Computer with History. Mine works consistently that way, but I haven't noticed some of the other 'features' that some of you have ;).
