| Is it safe to jack up the car from rear by the rear differential? I saw my tire shop do this when they were rotating tires on my MDX. I think someone once told me that it was safe to do than on another car, but want to double check. Thanks. |

There is a jacking point BEHIND the rear differential that is specified in the MDX shop manual. It is a black steel projection.
The only jack ever used on the rear differential is a transmission jack to remove or replace it.
There is also a similar point on the front of the vehicle, which is a steel tie down hook slot. |

Not only that, but the service manual clearly states to not use a jack on the diff
"When using a floor jack in the rear (ouch... ), use the rear jacking bracket behind the differential. Do not use a jack on the rear differential"
Show this to the dude. |
