I recently re-tinted my front to 15% HP tint and did 20% HP over factory in rear with this Newly developing company SunTek wich is trying to compete with Solarguard. Here's a few pic's of the final product and knowledge on it.

Looks great, Paul. I've still been waiting for some nice weather to take some shots of my window tint. I'd be interesting to see how it looks to the camera! It's kinda surprising that we've had so many consecutive days of rain here in South Florida where the sun usually shines every single day - it's getting a little depressing...the way I remember winters in the Midwest.

Paul, did you get a 'good price' on this stuff since it's new?

Yes the tinter was referred to me by a friend . They had to remove my 35% front tint, then re-tint fronts and do all rears. I was very happy with paying $200 for the complete removal and re-install. When I had just the front 2 windows it cost me $60 for the fronts only. I believe the regular would be $250-$300 for a straight install of all windows if using any type of High Performance tint with a lifetime warranty. The removal of the front tint could by itself run upward of $80, It took them almost 1 1/2 hours just to remove the front tint.
I was going to go with the Solarguard again but this company is trying to take some of the market share away from them with an excellent product. The clarity I believe is a little better and the adhesive ability is much better, I believe there using a new item from 3M. The color of the tint seems to match the factory color also a little better.:2: :5: :4: :18:

I know it might be too soon to tell, but do you think the new tint will help keep the interior a little cooler on hot, sunny days? Someone told me that the factory tint on the rear windows is only for privacy and has no solar-blocking capabilities. What do you know about that?

With 99% UV reduction, there is a hugh difference in interior temperature. We had a couple of days that were 90 degress to 95 degress, with the humidy built it felt like 105 and 115 for two days. Most prople had to leave their windows open a crack so that the interior wouldn't overheat. I never had to due that. When I went to the SUV it was so much cooler. The a/c was able to chill the inside in very little time compared to having no tint. I use the auto-start feature but noticed that interior cooling time was reduced dramatically. Also it helps the seats and dashboards in the sense they will not crack due to UV and Heat.:4:

Does anyone know for sure if the factory tint is only for privacy and not for heat reduction or UV reduction? I do notice a dramatic difference since I tinted the back windows over the factory tint. I always assumed in the past that the factory had a UV reduction built in the glass? But maybe it's just a privacy glass? Not sure, but a hugh difference since I re-tinted and did the entire SUV.

Here's a question for you. If you have non-factory tint, and your window gets smashed, either accidently or a break-in attempt, will the insurance cover the re-tint also?

Yes allstate will cover the re-tinting as long as you supplied them with a copy of the receipt for the work performed. Sometimes they may require a photo of the SUV to document that the work was done. They will always cover items like tint, alarm systems, and even added electronic to an extent. The key is proof of sale and picture to show insurance company the work. This is allstates procedure, I'm not sure what other insurance companies would do.
Of course, you must have the full glass protection, in addition to comp. and collison.

Thanks! I have Allstate, I will make sure I have full glass coverage.

Looks really tight. Goes real well with the color of you car. Unforteantly for me, NJ laws don't allow tinting to the windshield or front side windows. On another subject, how do you like your piaa plasma high beams? I was thinking about getting some.

They make for a great match to the HID low beams. I thought a little over priced at $129.99 for the japan made ones. They match the light color and brightness of my 6000K HID. In reality when I kick them on the HID still overtake them, but the Super Plamsa 5000k are aimed a little higher for increased site. It's amazing you really never had a need for high beam with the HID system, except for the flash to pass feature. In New York the fronts shouldn't really be darker than 35%, but the law is rarely enforced. In N.J. they may enforce it a little more. The rears can be tinted as dark as you like in all 50 states, I believe?

Where exactly did you get your suntek tints done? Do you hava a name and number?

Also, if you have nav, is the metallic tint interfering with your nav signal?

Thanks.

I'll look it up and get back to you.
