Was able to pick this pic up on the net for a picture of the new X5, being streched out a bit.
No other details on spec's available. |

| This is not a photoshop picture I actually got from a spy shot website, just if anyone was thinking it was fake. |

paul123,
I had found some info in the Consumer Review Car Preview mag. It's now code named the X5-Plus, coming out to hold 7 passengers.
Here's the thread I posted:

That makes sense with the extended body! |

now it looks like a station wagon. a bad idea!
beamer should stick to a high-performance sedans, coups and roadsters, and leave the SUV stuff to other boys. |

| It does look a little "long in the butt", to be blunt. At least it will benefit from some sorely needed cargo space! |

| THAT is a total Soccer Mom car! It looks like a station wagon! I don't expect they will be selling alot of those to Men. I daresay I'd rather have a minivan than a station wagon! :D |

| I suspect they'll push the back wheels for the real one. It was probably a "photoshop" from BMW themselves. I'm one to think BMW has got a group of the best car designers in the world. |

| That is one beautiful (NOT) station wagon......I think the MDX and Pilot has made everyone else just a leetle bit nervous.....the Beamer folks, Lexus, and the Volvo XC model???? What next, Saturn stretches the VUE to seat 10? |

If you look at the side view of the new Volvo SUV it has a very similar "station wagon" type look. They must be banking that the tall wagon will be the next "big thing" in styling. I'd personally like to see them all head the other direction and make them a little more butch and less "soccer Mommy". Of course, I suppose soccer Moms are one of their primary targets...

| Volvo's just blatantly building on the success of the X5. Can you get sued for design copy?? |
|

But BMW is copying the third row thing. Whose copying who? Can Mazda sue BMW for the Z3? Everybody tries to improve on previous designs that's how we get a better product in the end (sometimes).
BTW Just got this in from Volvo:
Volvo XC90 wins Safety Award
quote: "Perhaps the biggest payoff in Volvo's rollover research has led to the development of anti-rollover technology (RSC), a world's-first feature that will debut on the XC90."
