A goodbye to a great vehicle.

Great car. I owned a '98 Camaro. Fun to drive, but not very practical (at least with 3 kids and with the Northeast snow)

How much you wanna bet this is just a marketing ploy to increase interest and to setup the market for a re-release of the Camaro in a couple of years? Perhaps they will even release a "nostalgia" model that looks like one of the originals to try and get in on that "PT Cruiser" market. My gut feeling is we haven't seen the end of the Camaro... I'm betting it'll be reincarnated. Possibly quite different than it was (ala Thunderbird) but the name Camaro, like Arnold, willl be back... :D

I agree. First they lose that car segment. And GM can't just look at the sidelines and not go the route of Thunderbird and Nissan Z car. They have to build the anticipation then the car.

Ah, the memories! A buddy of mine ordered an early '67, biggest V8 with stickshift, and a never-again-available combination of fast-ratio power steering AND fast-ratio standard steering (long steering arm and short Pittman arms). The darn thing seemed to have about 1/2-turn lock-to-lock; even after he got used to it, he said it was murder to keep it going straight.

He let me drive it in the parking lot of the manufacturing plant where we were both engineers. I had a Studebaker with a heavy gas pedal and light clutch pedal, and his Camaro had a light gas pedal and heavy clutch pedal. When I decided to show off with it, I darn-near flipped it over backward!:5:

Paul123,
Thanks for the memories. I bought a brand new 1970 Camaro RS CopperpMetallic and took it over to Germany for two years while in the Army. It was fun driving 100+ on the autobahn. Great car while it lasted. After 4 years the engine started using lots of oil, then the body started rusting out. Last American manufacturer car I ever bought.
