Ok, got back from the field early, & Mr. UPS man had dropped 4 boxes! :31: So I said F*** it & blow off the rest my workday and went to work Pimping the Rig out. :15:

1. Acura Side Steps: It went well but took a little longer than I thought it would, (boy you think they could streamline the 72 bolts  ) but it looks great!:29: It seems to offer some dent protection as well as giving a useful step for the roof rack.

2. Cargo Liner: Installation is a piece of cake. I have to say this the ticket for the Big Dog owner :29: I just ordered the Meblo Pet Barrier- 6 bar welded aluminum, ($100 from CanineAuto.com) to limit The Pooch's access to the front of the MDX.

3. Cargo Net: Set vertically to keep the grocery bags from launching, (it freaks the dog out ;) ). It would be nice if Acura would have used the deck cargo hook on the bulkhead instead of that plastic hook, then you could use the metal clips at the top of the net.

4. All Season Mats: very nice!

Thanks Tim, I ordered 7/9, it was at my doorstep 7/16 - NY to CA. Very nice & thanks for fixing my goof! :29:

If you look from the back (or the front) the steps do not protrude out any farther than the doors do. Considering how low they are I doubt they will prevent any dings at all. I agree they are functional for what they are, but I wouldn't count on them acting like BSM.

P.S.: The large number of bolts (three mounting spots on each side) give the OEM steps a little more rigidity than the Maniks. Some Manik owners have commented that they give a little when stepping on them.

I should have said, "Limited" but it will offer some :) I had the dealer put the BSM on (I did not want to try that 1:eek: ). I also had the dealer install the splash cards although it looks to be an EZ install. Pimp Doggy Dog is good for time being :15:

Shame you didn't try the bsm install, dog, they were really easy to put on. Especially if you follow some of the posts on here. Just a matter of using the template that is provided and making sure you clean the area well and a final wipe with some alcohol before the install. :15:

Because of the Acura side steps positioning, they do a wonderful job protecting the body from stones and road crap thrown up from the tires. The OEM mud flaps protect very little of the body. I just wish my legs didn't bump into them when exiting.

That is my only complaint with the steps; your calf can touch them when getting out of the car. This can soil your pants in wet/rainly weather. Another thing I have noticed is a little more noise on wet rainy streets due to the water hitting the underside of the hollow tubes; that 'hollow' sound is evident.

The OEM side steps, being essentially hollow tubes, make quite a bit of noise when you drive through puddles or on roads with standing water.

As for the protection they offer, it seems to me that a very low car's door might hit the side step, but most doors are 'bowed' in the middle and it's the center to the door edge that will hit the side of your car. Thus the middle of the neighboring car's door would have to be at the height of your side step - now that's a pretty low car!

Clean pants exit procedure:

Step onto the step
Step off of the step

No worries, rain or shine!

Ok I did the door ding test with the wife's Audi A4 and all I can say is Thank God for my BSM. It missed the side step by a 1/4":28: Well at least it still looks cool :15: It offers little if no protection from door dings, I stand corrected :6:
