Here we go, I pick her up tomorrow 10:00am (7/26/02). The birth of a bounding Havasu Blue MDX. Here, have a cigar . I want to thank all of the forum members who provided lots of informative info on this SUV. Granted this is for my wife, I'm just as giddy about it as her. I've got my Fieldcrest/Cannon towels yesterday and await my Zaino care package. I told the dealer no waxing the vechicle. I'm getting the touring package and the dealer is throwing in the wheel lug locks and rear mud flaps. The dealer wanted 150$ for the all weather floor mats but thanks to you great people, I'm heading over to HondaAcuraWorld.com to get them for 91.00$. Awesome price.
Soon as I get my first coats of Zaino Z2 on her, I'll try to post some pictures of her with my Sony f707 Digial Camera.
I'll be adding moon roof deflector and additional accessories over time.
Again, thanks to all you great MDX owners who helped me in my decision to purchase this vechicle!:D

Congratulations! Looks like you got a lot of new toys there. That's excitement overload it it happened to me. :D

Enjoy and let us peek at your X by posting pics!

Before someone else asks, I might as well do it.

When you get a chance, would you post some pictures?

Will do, I'll post some pictures next Monday (7/29). I'm actually picking up my MDX tonight!! I didn't have them fully prep the X (no waxing) which will save me time when I Zanio it. I have a question about posting pictures, what is the maximum file size (.jpg) that can be posted. Do I need to limit image size to a certain amount of pixels?
I'm going crazy waiting for my "X" :D
I'll be back in touch soon.

Hey cvol
Another congratulations to you. I love the Havasu Blue MDX. I guess I like the MDX in any color. You will find this machine will run considerably better after 3-4000 miles so you have something else to look forward to. Wax her up good
while the finish is perfect and do not do the first oil change untill you have at least 3500-4000 miles. This machine comes with special high detergent, moly based brake-in fluid that really helps the engine brake-in properly. Just wanted you to know this important information.
Enjoy:2:

Thanks for the response. I didn't know this. I'll be sure to ask the dealer about the first servicing. Is there a particular grade of motor oil that the X needs? I'm already aware that the X need 92 octane gas of higher. How are your Michelin tires holding up? I'm assuming that it is a decent tire, even with it's narrow stance (6.5"). I'm pretty good about tire rotation and pressure so my hope is that the tires will get me to 40,000 miles. What is the wear rating on the touring package tires?
Thanks!
Chuck
DaleB
It is 91 octane minimum, and the Michelins with the stock rims seem to do just great in town or taking sweeping turns at highway speeds.
Now you are supposed to ask about a full size spare and whether to do 5 tire rotations or not.
Lots and lots of threads with all that information, in particular the last 6 months.

I've heard that before, but it's never stopped me! I have been waiting for the first opportunity to wax my X since I got it a couple of months ago -- looks like tomorrow is the day (sleeping will not come easy tonight!)

Not so. May have been the case many years ago, and is also true of body shop paint jobs, but not the baked on factory finishes.

Get that Zaino going!

Hey gang, I accepted deleivery of my spankin' new 2002 HB MDX. I was relying on my wifes better judgement regarding the color. The HB color is awesome! Previous posts on the subject of HB color indicated it was a chameleon like color, well this is true. Under low light it appears almost silver/gray but in the sun it's a very bright and vibrant blue tint silver. Hard to describe but everyone who has seen my X loves the color. The dealer asked if another potential buyer of a HB X could stop by my house to check the color out being there never seems to be any on the lot to look at. I'm still holding off on detailing my X as I'm still waiting for my Zaino to arrive from Ecklers. I did wash her though and made the mistake of wiping her down with a new Chamoise (spelling?). I should have washed all the oils out of it before wiping down my X. I found I had to clean all of the windows again because the oil left alot of streaking on the windows. I can only assume the same oil is spread over the car's paint so it's a Dawn wash and claybar prior to my first coat of Zaino.
The car rides like a dream, tight and true. However, I did have the 3M chipguard plastic treatment applied to the front of the hood (at no cost). They did a real crappy job applying this material. There were bubbles underneath as well as some other crap. It appears that they did a rush job on it and did not prep the area properly. In addition, they cut the material to get it to conform around the curvature of the hood's nose.(The other side conformed perfect without the need to cut). I told the dealer on the spot that it was unacceptable to me. He indicated the bubbles would dissapate over time (to me a squeege would have removed the bubbles) but if I was not happy they would redo it. (They will redo it come my first oil change) I guess I'm a stickler for having everything perfect. My wife rolled her eyes at me for being so nit-picky but for a 40,000$ vechicle, things should be perfect. Though I told them not to wax the car, they did a half-A*sed job even washing it. There was still dust on it in areas from shipping. (Again, they rushed it). So, all in all it was a positive experience with exception to what I've indicated above. BTW, There was mild orange peel in the paint all over, and it isn't limited to the light colors. When I was picking up my X, there was a new Black X right next to mine. There was orange peel in the black also. I hope that multiple coats of Zaino will help conceal/minimize the orange peel.
I'm going to post pictures in a few days after I got a coat of Zaino on my X.
Thanks again for the great info you folks shared with me in this forum!

Suposedly the orange peal is normal in all modern paint jobs. Something to do with the reduction of lead in the paint. Do a search and you should find another discussion on this.
As for the oils, Dawn will take care of it.

Have fun!

Hey there Tom-TX, can you send me a link and/or info on the HID lamps you put in your X along with cost?
Were they difficult to install?
Thanks!
