We just sold my wife's 1996 Ford Explorer with 55,000 miles on it. It was a very good SUV and gave us excellent service. It rode a little on the hard side and needed more power (160hp V-6). We felt it was time for a new SUV for my wife and the fun began...... I love test driving new vehicles, so we drove all of them, about 15 SUVs. I own and drive a 2000 Toyota Tundra, which I love, so I lean towards the Sequoia, but I have to remember it's "my wife's" new SUV. She prefers the MDX, so we ordered it on 12/1/00. She likes the size, looks, mileage, Acura reliability and feels very comfortable in it and I like the handling, performance and mileage. I don't like the looks of the MDX, too chunky and plain looking, no real styling, just doesn't do anything for me. I am 6'3", 245lbs and don't feel that comfortable in the MDX seats, they feel too small. I am use to the standard 4 wheel drive system of a rear wheel driven vehicle and I question the front wheel drive system that engages the rear wheels for a four wheel drive system. My wife likes the Sequoia, but thinks it is "to big" for her to drive, but of course I prefer the Sequoia because of its larger size. I convinced my wife to consider the new 2002 Ford Explorer (V-8) and she likes that one too. So we ordered the Explorer as well. I think we will buy whichever SUV arrives 1st, they are both due the 1st of March. I am still rooting for the Sequoia, which I can buy at $700.00 over invoice. "I do have to remember that this is my wifes SUV" HE-HE

| Not sure what point you are trying to make. It all comes down to what "you" or your wife wants out of a vehicle. I've owned Ford SUV's for about 12 years now and none of them come close to the MDX. They have their own place in the market but comparing them makes little sense. As for the Sequoya, it is a nice vehicle but truck-like. If you want a vehicle that size, why not an Expedition? |
