cracked leather -- 3K miles! - Click HERE for Original Thread

I discovered a crack in the coating of the leather on the driver's seat. I also noticed excessive stretching of the leather, but that doesn't bother me as much.

I am worried that the crack will spread.

The crack is very similar to 'paint chipping' and started along a fold on the outboard portion of the seat bottom.

I have a Emerald Green / Saddle / Touring. Picked up from dealer in mid Dec.

Anyone else notice the same problem?

Any suggestions about a fix?

At this rate, interior should be shot in a year!!!
Very disappointed in leather quality, but still love the MDX...
Have seen the same problem on a 3500km ebony interior, in the exact location you describe. Will be interesting to see if a trend develops. I'd take it to the dealer and have him replace it under warrranty. There is no excuse for this.
Noticed the ebony leather wear marks on the drivers seat less than a month after having the vehicle. I bought a seat cushion a noted less wear over the same period of time since then. However, my '98 Integra has much better quality of leather than the MDX (though it's custom leather, not factory). The leather feels a bit "thin."
Have the exact same problem with the leather on a saddle interior at around 2,500 miles. Going to be at the dealer in the next week or so for the first service and will defininetly point it out to them. Not a very good sign.

EmeraldGreen-

Had the MDX in for an unrelated problem (water leaking into the front), and asked them to take a look at the seat. Service department called to let me know they had overnighted in a new seat cover and replaced the cracked one. Not even a hint of argument from them, so I'm guessing this may not be a unique situation.

Of course, this could also be an example of Acura service at a level we all expect.

By all means, take it in to your dealer!
