Don't know if you need to pay any duty for the parts you order from Tim. But you do need to pay extra 10% on the price if it is shipping to Canada. |

Thanks JIM for the reply. I probably have to, as well as the 10%, theres another 60% in exchange so it may not be worth the bother,
happy MDXing. Mine should arrive by the end of the month. I've sold my van to my son and my harley to a very happy person so now I'm down to my ,mountain bike until my MDX arrives. Thanks again. |

hey rbuie,
I bought a moonroof visor and window vent guards from tim, his service is excellent and shipping was quick!! But UPS did charge me an extra 75 bucks for all these little nick nacks taxes and stuff that I'm not sure what they were for. But after everything, it wasn't worth it, I ended up paying alot more!!:) |

Hello Donut,
Thats what I fiqured but wasn't sure. Its made in Canada, but getting it back over the border is costly. Happy motoring with your MDX, mine arrives in the next few weeks, mesa beige.

I have already ordered a whole lot of stuff from Tim in anticipation of the X 's arrival and I found the prices to still be much better than what the dealer was quoting (exchange and taxes considered)
I have a "ship to" address in the states where it goes, then I go down and pick it up from there. (as I do with ebay stuff, etc)
I simply show the customs people Tim's invoice and they do a conversion to get CDN equivilant. There is no duty charges on items made in US or Canada, but you will pay the 7% GST, and applicable PST tax at the border. All this considered, I have still saved money, not a lot, but some... (net CDN savings about 20% - 30% from Dealer quote)
On a fully loaded up MDX, that could be $1000 or so CDN on accessorys saved. That pays for my video install..... |

| What if you purchase the items from Tim, cross over the border, put those items on your car, and drive back to Canada. How will they know if you buy those accessories here? If they don't know, why will you need to pay the DUTY? |

wait, but I guess Tim might charge you 7% or whatever the tax rate for New York State.
Right, Tim?? :p |

| Well, yeah, but I offer a 10% pickup discount, so with the 8% sales tax, you save 2% :D |

| The only suggestion I would add is to make sure you go over while it's warm. It's very difficult to drill or attach anything when the temperature is below 5 deg C. :2: |

FYI
Technically, according to Canada Customs (at least when I used to work there), if you were caught with something new added to your vehicle which you did not declare, you can be charged duty (not likely any more because of NAFTA) and taxes on the entire value of the vehicle , not just the new stuff. Fairly easy for an officer to spot brand new tires on an old dirty car, probably much less likely to spot it on a new shiny MDX. However, does make one pause to consider if the couple hundred bucks savings is worth the bother. |
