Problems Installing Front Nose mask - Click HERE for Original Thread

Has anyone had any problems installing the Acura Front Nose Mask?

I can't seem to get it to fit properly under the headlights. I have orded two from Tim so far. The first was so tight I couldn't even get it to snap to the wheelwell. That one was shipped back and I received another one, which I'm having problems getting it to fit under the lights.

I'm using the form fit deflector, but I want some added protection to the bumper.

you should be able to stretch it enough to make it fit. Once you get it on and leave it awhile, you don't need to stretch it again to get it on. Its about a 10 minute (or less) job to put it one the second time.

The one I ordered from Tim, fits perfectly. There is a very slight wrinkle in the material around the lights, but nothing that will make a difference in the protection or looks.

I have a front hood defector and full mask and the combo works great. So far, I have avoided all stone nicks. Just a lot of bugs to clean off after a road trip.

I would just make sure you are installing the mask correctly and the hooks, inserts and snaps are where they are supposed to be. And don't be afraid to pull and stretch. It will not go on with a gentle touch.

Good luck.

It also helps if you have recently waxed the car before putting it on. I just put mine on for the 1st time about two weeks ago, but I had put 3 coats of Zaino on about 4-6 weeks before that and I'm sure it helped.

I had a similar experience. First one I got was way too tight plus I was putting it on in 30-40 degree weather (although I warmed it up first). My replacement took about 30-40 minutes to get on with a decent amount of tugging but much easier than the first. This install was done with weather in the 70s. Not sure if it was a different fit or just the weather. It did go on much easier the second time around.

Same here. I had to return the nose mask to my dealer in exchange for a new one. The bottom was just too tight to fit and the thread that attaches one of the hooks to the mask came undone after I tried to stretch it to fit. The replacement came and this time it took about 30 min to attach the bottom half of the mask. We are preparing for a 6 hour road trip to Chattanooga, TN this Wednesday and will find out if the 'bra' helps.

I think I posted this earlier but here it is again:

Clean the surfaces and wax them first.

When you first try to put it on it seems like it is impossible.
What I ended up doing is heating the mask up in the sun for a while.

The part that fits on the hood wasn't too difficult but with the deflector, I don't know.

For the bottom part, follow the instructions but when you get to the part where you have to connect it to the snap and hook the bottom to the underside of the bumper, have someone else help you stretch the mask.

After a few days of being stretched and in the sun, you will be able to take if off and put it on easily.

I periodically take it off and vacuum the inside and clean the MDX surfaces.

Do either of you have fender flares?

I do not have fender flares.

I understand that the nose mask does not fit with finder flares. At least that is what the dealer claims. However, I seem to recall someone in this forum saying they succeeded in stretching the mask to fit. So, who knows for sure.

I just know that I don't have fender flares and the mask needed to be stretched a fair amount before it would fit. I can see where installing over fender flaires might be a problem.

No flares for me either...

In fact, the nose mask and rear mud guards are the only exterior accessories I've installed on my base model so far.

Ok, thanks for the replys.

I have fender flares, and wanted the nose mask (at least the bottom portion). I was seconds away from purchasing a nose mask, however some last minute research in this forum yielded info on the incompatibility for fender flares and the mask. I just wanted to make sure the info was accurate.

I hope there will eventually be mask that can fit over the flares.

No fender flares either.

You should still consider protecting the top of the hood even if you don't protect the bottom. I didn't do this for my CL and I've regretted it.

I guess if you really wanted to protect your nose, you have a couple of choices:

1 - Make an extension for the fenderwell snap. You may need one for the lower bumper clip too.

2 - Mount the snap onto the side of the fender flare (yuck :25: )
