| Well, I like the Hy portion of the Hy-Wire; I have long been a fan of Hydrogen as automobile fuel, but am also loco:25: enough to like steam (max torque at zero rpm) AND nuclear! Can't stand the humongous windshield, though. |

When the KIA site comes back up go check out the new Kia Sorento that will be out I think next year. It looks a lot like the RX300 to me. Things might be getting a little more interesting in the comparos next year.

The October 2002 Scientific American article "Vehicle of Change" has more details and pix on GM's Hy-wire hydrogen vehicle concept. The National Geographic Channel's show National Geographic Today airing September 26 at 9AM and 7PM is supposed to have a companion piece. I don't get the Geo channel, so I won't get to see it. :( Oh well.
For those of us planning on keeping our MDX for 10 or more years, it might be the last or second-to-last internal combustion car we buy. |

Hi Paul123:
___As always, thanks for the links …I read some information in Popular Science the other day discussing the real costs and they are significant. I believe Chrysler was talking about $20,000 - $30,000 for the engine alone! I can only hope they can correct this as the world will truly be a better place for us all for a number of reasons possibly … I also believe given the simplicity of the power plant and drive mechanisms that the quality gap we so much love to bash the American manufacturers with will all but disappear. America builds great electric motors in my experience. Hopefully most others will appreciate this as well. With the internal combustion engine and connected drive trains being removed, there is that much less possibility of trouble although the American makes will have to up their interior quality appointments.
___MK23666, it looks like KIA copied the RX right down to the rims! Good thing Lexus is busy readying the RX330 ;) Yeaahhh, right. KIA can’t sell what they have now ($6300.00 Rio’s) let alone a more expensive automobile. Than again, it will give those in a lower income bracket the opportunity to receive a vehicle that not only has relatively good looks but hopefully great utility. As a kudo for KIA, a friend of mine purchased a Sportage about 2 years ago and has 0 problems with ~ 40,000 miles now.
___Good Luck
