First time posting:
I ordered my MDX several months ago and the dealer called yesterday to say it finally arrived (6 weeks later than promised). My question to all you MDX experts, should I buy the 2002 or wait for a 2003. Will the new features (if any) offset the increase in price if there is one. My dealer is not offering any discount or competitive financing due to the 03 release right around the corner. I hear there is already a wait list for 03 and if it is like my last wait, I'll be lucky to get a new car by Feb/Mar. |

...I think that you are probably more informed than most Acura dealers. Given that, you are also probably an 'enthusiast'. I know if I were in your shoes I'd be happier with an 03.
Now, if you gave any sort of deposit, that might change things. I'd not want to forfeit anything, so I'd suggest to the dealer that maybe somebody else on their list would like to be "jumped up".
Then I get than deposit back and hunker down for the 03 wait!

| It doesn't sound like the price increase will be too great and you will not suffer a full years depreciation if you wait for a 2003. You will be getting the 3d year of the X and I have to think the quality will only get better as they work the bugs out and improve the new ones. I would also do what others here have suggested by working the phones and internet and maybe you will find one sooner. Remember, pay MSRP only. You did not mention if your deposit is refundable but I assume it is as I am not aware of anyone losing a deposit for not following thru with a purchase after an order. Good Luck. |

I would wait on the 2003.
When I ordered mine there was a used 2001 on the lot with very low miles and in good condition. It would have saved me thousands of dollars, but I wanted the latest model available since it had improvements over the 2001. The wait gave me time to save up extra money to offset the price difference.

Unless they are going to discount 02 big bucks, why would you not wait for a 03?
If they are going to discount 02 thousands, then you have a tough decision.
Remember that an a new 02 is now 1 year old. |
