Just Got My October Build Date For My 2003 - Click HERE for Original Thread

:2: Dealer just called....my date range for my '03 Black /Saddle Touring is Oct 5th - 9th...so they are advising that the actual build date will be the 7th (middle day, as Jamie has mentioned in previous post). I put my deposit down the last week in July, they (Acura of Concord) sent their allocation request in the 21st of August.
One curious thing....they said the ETA for the car is 10/21...thought it would only take a week to get to the Bay Area from the factory.
mdxxxx
Keep us posted on the progress. They probably padded the ETA time to allow for whatever. I know they have 1 to 2 days of 'prep time' and inspection prior to notifying the buyer that it has arrived.

Congrats' Stumpie!

My wife and I am also waiting for a notice of build date too from our dealer. Almost got it from Concord Acura but went with Hopkins in Redwood City since it is closer to us. We were informed too that we will get our build date this week. We were so please to know that we got the same color Black/Saddle, as you. Maybe we could exchange ideas on our MDXs' soon.

So far this forum has been very informative and helpful to us and we are glad to join the "MDX family". Can't wait for our baby X'!

Thanks......I debated long and hard with myself and finally decided NOT to get the navigation.....hence the October delivery. But came very close last week to calling and changing the order...which would have pushed the ETA out significantly. I have a Black/Tan '00 ML320 currently, and love the color combo.

Finally got a call from my dealer and gave me a build date-Oct 16-20. :2: Black/Sadle, Touring.

I was wondering how come there are different build dates, like some got theirs earlier? Also I was told that delivery date might be 10 days after. I guess it really takes that long to be here in the Bay Area. Now I won't get mine until the end of Oct. But anyways, I could still wait, hopefully it won't be pushed further. :(

But I'm glad to hear news about the 2003 MDX. :p

In most cases the dealer can predict a delivery date, but things do happen. Especially if you are on the other coast.
Hopefully they will make it worth your while if it slips more than a couple of days, as in my case.

Late October's OK.....I * finally * got to test drive an MDX this weekend...talk about faith....$2K down since July, no info until last week on options and still no info on price. A previous generation would laugh at the new world order regarding hot car purchases.
The test drive was very good....noticeably more power than my '00 ML320, quieter engine, higher driving position, better visability, noticably wider. Leather a step down, doors quite a bit thinner, left foot not quite comfortable (yet) on the dead pedal as it was lower and flat. All in all tho, quite pleasing.
By the way, my dealer suggested 14 days after build as ETA, Jamie Stockman suggested 12 and yours is saying 10...so a week and a half to two for us out here in the SF Bay Area.

Finally, after nagging the salesman continuously he has told me that my vehicle has a production date of Oct. 20-24. I believe I read that the production date is different than the build date but can't get him to give me any more info. Really need to know expected ETA since I plan to sell my current car myself--dealer only offered $14k. Edmunds shows private party value of high $20k. Rather sell it to someone myself for $14k than let them make even a bigger profit.

My build date is 10/16. Dealer told me it takes 7 to 14 days to get the car. Should be in before end of Octorber. ;) But have to upgrade from Basic to Touring to get the color we wanted.

Why would you think there are a different set of dates? I got an allocation sheet it had one date span called build date.
Everything else, was model (prem or touring. nav or no nav), color, and a 'ready for shipping' date.
Shipping READY date, nothing tells you when it will be delivered. Considering you are east coast they should be able to get you locked in pretty tight early on.
The dealerships get all communications from Acura, they don't talk to the transporters directly. So no use asking them if the truck is at a certain point.
Unless things have changed......dealerships get notified if the deliveries are slipping, but not notified to tell them they are on schedule to the day.

Thanks DaleB. Not sure where I got the impression that the build/production dates were not the same--thought I had read that somewhere. I understand they don't track the shipping, but when I tell him I would like to have an ETA date and the saleman gives me the run around I tend to think that 1) either he hasn't got a clue, 2) maybe I'm not getting mine in their 1st allocation as originally promised (although they've had deposit since May), or 3) he really doesn't care which is what I tend to believe based on everything else.

Hey Stumpie,

Tell them to push production up a day to October 4th....I'd give a special birthday present to an MDX that shared my birthday! :)

I don't understand why they cant give you an ETA, it is only an estimate.

Do I gather from these posts that if you want the Navi in the '03 it will be much later than October? The dealer I spoke with said '03 Navi/Touring and just Touring would all be coming out early October??

;) Tim - not to worry. Your B-Day present will be myself, and hopefully many/most of you others with October delivery dates, placing your orders NOW for mats, boards, knobs, grills, or whatever it is you KNOW you are going to buy for your new baby....day one I'm removing the MDX emblem, installing BSMs and mats - at the minimum.

I called the dealer today. My build date is between Oct. 16-21. My new hotrod will be ready for me at the end of October!

Salesman said he will call me with a VIN once the X is in production.

Talked to sales manager yesterday and he said he will know build date by 10/1. He is checking every day and will call when he finds out.

Congrads Stumpie!!!! BTW my dealer says 10-14 days delivery to central CA and that includes several days of prep time.
VTSKIER
The hubs called our salesman today. Our build date is Oct 20-24 with an estimated delivery date of 7 days later. So it looks like I'll be behind the wheel by the beginning of November. Time to cruise over to Tim for accessories:D

I would not get TOO optimistic. Desert Acura gave me 14 days, and they didn't make that. If our pal from CT got an estimate of 7 days from Ottawa, Canada to Connecticut, 10 would be extremely optimistic for California.

I have no idea why delivery would take 7 days from Ottawa to CT when you can drive it in hours. Sorry you had to wait so long to get yours. I agree 10 days is best case, but I did give a range of 10 to 14 days in my original post and that seems reasonable based on many of the posts I have seen on this site and thread.

On one post in this thread rnsangabriel in San Frasisco says "Also I was told that delivery date might be 10 days after."

On the first post on this thread Stumpie says "....my date range for my '03 Black /Saddle Touring is Oct 5th - 9th...so they are advising that the actual build date will be the 7th ....(Acura of Concord) sent their allocation request in the 21st of Aug....they said the ETA for the car is 10/21...thought it would only take a week to get to the Bay Area from the factory." As I calculate it, the 9th to the 21st is 11 days and the 5th to the 21st is 16 days so his range is 11 to 16 days. Since the Actual build date may be the 7th that is only 13 days to the same area in Norther California. Actually I am about 90 min. closer to the factory than Stumpie but that doesn't mean my delivery time is 12days 22 and 1/2 hours versis his 13 because it is only an ESTIMATE.

Modesto Acura has been very straight forward with me and I am very excited, but as I do not have a build date yet I am not worried about it. I have been wanting one since they came out in 01' and I am excited about the changes in the 03'. I estimate getting my beauty at the end of October or the beginning of November and is fine if it takes a little longer.

Got my build date today for my '03 Black/Saddle Touring. October 7-11, with delivery taking 7-10 days.

Very exciting to receive my Born-On Date. I've already started purchasing accessories.

Actually I am not sorry mine took longer, I got the protection package thrown in free because of it.
We are talking about truck transporters and I don't know when they pick up and when they drop off. Yes, 7 days does seem long to CT, but in actuality I believe it's closer to the reality of the situation. It's all about distribution, and the cheapest way to complete that process will always win out.
But in the final analysis it does not matter, you will be thrilled !

Called Modesto Acura and got a build date of 17-21! He changed delivery estimate to Nov 5. here in Northern CA. He said once the car is built he will have a more precise delivery estimate.

Thanks to DaleB for the great insight. Do you know if the factory is running 7 days a week? The 17th is a Thursday and the 21st is a Monday, just wondering if they are working on the weekend?

Just chillin a month or two waiting for my Midnight blue! :2:

Cool,
As to my other question, since the 19th is a Saturday, does that mean the factory runs 7 days a week?

Just found out my Vin # as my baby was born on 10/25/02. Cant wait!:2:

Modesto Acura also has a MBP Touring arriving anytime that is unclaimed. I am planning to see the color when it arrives.

.....my MDX was built on/about 10/10...still not here (NoCal)...dealer today says it's on a train in New Mexico.....to be loaded on a truck I suppose...been 18 days already, they estimated 14 after build - so another example of the variability of arrival dates, and life.....

Tonight when we went to the dealer to pick up a loaner, the sales manager said mine would be here by next Wednesday(wich was the first we'd heard that) at the latest. I'm not complaining-they gave us a 2003 TL to use until then:7:
