Cold start - Click HERE for Original Thread

I left my car outside for about 4 hours (it was a few degrees below freezing). I had to keep the key turned for about 4-5 seconds compared to probably 1 second normally.
Is it the way it is supposed to be? Did anyone try to start the car in cold weather?

Thanks in advance.
Did you keep your foot OFF the accelerator when you turned the ignition key? With fuel injection, depressing the accelerator when trying to start the car can cause a longer starting time because of excessive fuel in the cylinders. A few years ago when many vehicles had carburetors instead of fuel injection, depressing the accelerator slightly could help reduce the starting time. It's just the opposite with vehicles equipped with fuel injection.

Yes, I didn't touch the accelerator. I'll see if it happens again (hopefully not). Seems a bit wierd. Thanks anyways.
A couple of times, on a cold day (around freezing)after all day in the parking garage, it took two or three cranks to get the engine to start. Otherwise, no problems and starts right up - just like a new engine should.
