McGrath Acura in Westmont, IL sent me a post card offering to perform a 45 point inspection and oil change for free in the second week of October. Any others out there get this offer from their dealers. Its a great deal for me since I am due for a 22,500 mile change shortly.

We received one for our TL. It was for a free 45 point inspection and coupon for a free oil change at your next service. You had to call for an appointment for the free inspection.

Hi Remery:

___Is this the first time you have received a coupon/special like this from McGrath? McGrath of Glenview has our 03 X on order currently and it sure would be nice to get a coupon in the mail like this every once in a while …

___Thanks

Wayne,
I have had warranty work done at McGrath but did not buy my MDX there. It was couched as a thanks to customers. I believe this is the first time I have gotten anything offering free service but have receive coupons for discounts. I was curious if this was a national campaign by Acura or just something individual dealers were doing so that people could take advantage of it.

Yeah I got one from McGrath where I bought the MDX, and I got one from Continental Honda where I got my 95 Honda Civic, thought the one from Honda did not included the free oil Change, but when I take it in I will barter for it, since it is time to get the oil change on the Civic. I figure its just for all Honda Customers and it gets sent to people who bought there cars from the dealers where they aquired the cars from.

Hi Msu79gt82:

___Not only have I read of a few Texas Acura dealerships actually offering X’s at slightly below MSRP but to add insult to injury, now I find out that your Texas dealership is offering free service interval maintenance as well? You guys sure seem to have it good down there if you know what I mean ;)

___On another note, I just received an E-Mail from a salesman over at Libertyville Acura (very poor Acura dealership in Northern IL. IMO) wondering if I am still interested … Here was my reply:

****************************************************

Hi Jim:

___I sure am ... What do you have in the way of an 03 TW Premium w/ Quartz interior coming in? I understand that this is possibly the first week when you can order the new Quartz interior equipped MDX's within the Acura MOVE process for your dealerships allocation but I may be mistaken.

___I am looking for a no forced option MDX unlike what Libertyville Acura has offered in the past. Secondly, are you still asking for MSRP or more? If you can throw in a few Dealer Installed Options at MSRP, I would be very interested :) Currently, McGrath in Glenview offers MSRP and no forced options plus a free loaner for any service or repair that requires over 2 hours to repair or replace.

___Thank you and please reply at your earliest convenience.

****************************************************

___I cannot wait to see the reply ;)

___Good Luck

Wayne,
If you haven't put a deposit down yet, contact Len Donnells at Joe Rizza Acura in Orland Park. These guys were straight shooters and offered accessories installed at a cost below list price which is why I bought mine from them over McGrath. I bought mine from them without ever going into the dealership except to pick it up. Don't know if anyone is selling below MSRP in the Chicago area but it wouldn't hurt to shop a little.

Hi Remery:

___I have had a refundable $2k deposit on an 03 TW Premium from McGrath’s Glenview dealership at MSRP w/ no forced options for a while now. Since Libertyville wasn’t allowing anyone to pre-order 2003’s and they were ripping everyone off that walked through their doors as of 3 months ago, I thought I would throw out a long shot just to see what they come back with. Even if they matched McGrath, I wouldn’t touch them but for a set of painted Fender Flares, painted Rear Tailgate Deflector, or even a complete set of BSM’s, All Season mats, cargo tray, and net … well everything is negotiable I have always believed. That was until I tried to find a deal on the X :(

___Good Luck

I received an offer from Butler Acura (Ashland Oregon) for the complimentary 45-point inspection but it did not include the oil change?? Although Butler Acura is the closest Acura dealer to my home I purchased from a dealer in Portland.

Evidently the oil change is an option for participating dealers and the dealer in Southern Oregon is too cheap to offer this free service. Oh well, I'll just go to a nearby Honda dealer for my soon to be needed 7500 mile service.

BaldEagle,
Your post about going to the nearest Honda dealer for service just sparked an idea. Since now Honda dealers sell Pilots which are a MDX clone, can they perform the service on both vehicles? Honda has many more dealers than Acura and many members here have to schlep many miles to see one. Bet a lot of folks are closer to a Honda than an Acura dealer. BE you will need to have your VTM fluid changed at 7,500 miles and unless you buy the stuff yourself at a Honda/Acura dealer to do your own change, you have to go to one of them to have the service done. Anyone can change oil but VTM fluid is different.

There is a Honda dealer within 10 minutes of my home, while the closest Acura dealer is 30 minutes away. I called the Honda dealer and spoke to service who told me that they will not touch my MDX. Even when I explained that it is essentially the same as the Pilot, they still said no.

So, tommorrow, I have an 8 AM appointment for my 7,500 mile service at the Acura dealer. It will cost $195 plus $10 for donuts and muffins. No coupon here.

They don't want those Pilot owners feeling too jealous:p

No problem here with the Honda dealer here doing the 7500 mile service on the MDX. A friend of mine had hers done 3 or 4 months ago. At that time they had to order the VTM fluid and gaskets but by now should be more than ready for the MDX now that the Pilot has been out for a few months.

The Honda dealer is 5 minutes from my home and the nearest Acura dealer is about an hour away.

Strange that the Honda dealer in your area would not service your X.

Honda dealers can not do warranty service on the MDX without permission from Acura.

At $195 THEY SHOULD BE SERVING you THE DONUTS! (or at least a 'reach around'')

Losts of posts on this, but at 7500 miles the factory says: oil change, VTM4 change, Tire rotate PERIOD. No checks, inspections, etc.....

BaldEagle,
I am glad to hear your Honda dealer will do routine maintenance because there are other members like you, who live a long way from an Acura dealer but close to a Honda one.
JTM
Acura dealer is just 10 minutes away from my house. But I don't bring the car to them unless it is the warranty issue.

I don't think ANYONE should pay dealer to do any inspections at 7500, except for oil change, VTM fluid change and tire rotation. If the tech need to adjust belts, brakes, blah blah blah, it should be dealer's cost as of the 4yr/50K manufacture warranty.
