Has anyone installed an auto-on headlight module like some of the Odyssey's owners did:

I think this is a neat and inexpensive add-on to the MDX. I am wondering if it is possible to install one on the MDX too.

I would deffinitly be interested in this. Has any one done this or is willing to try it?

I have DRLs on mine. U can click on the link in my sig line for info. Since I'm able to judge when it's dark outside, I didn't do an auto on deal. It sounds to me based on that Ody discussion that the "DRL" unit doesn't reduce the output of the lights, but rather keeps them on full intensity all the time. Half-ass implementation IMO. It also sounds like it probably turns on the running lights and dash lights as well. That would be a full-ass implementation if true.

DRL implementations should be headlights-only at reduced intensity. Saves bulb replacements and avoids the "flashers" in oncoming traffic, informing you that "yer lights are on!".

I could be wrong...their discussion over there is tough to follow, as you know :)

Insofar as the auto-on lights, sure, of course you could do it on the X. But why?

First of all, a friend of mine who owns an Ody has done the installation and he showed me the link to the site.
His 545T is actually designed for the convenient auto-on function, the DRL is a bonus and he had the option not to installed the DRL and he disabled the DRL and just installed the auto-on function.
Now, whenever it is dark or he is entering any public or private garages, he does not have to remember to turn the light on. And actually he told me the auto-on light has saved him one accident from happening when he was cruising the garage of his work place.
TheWorm has got one thing right though, the DRL is actually a always-on light function, both the headlights and taillight are on whenever the engine is running. Since our MDX and the Ody has the auto-off headlight function built in, we can always leave the headlight switch at the 'ON' position and they will be off whenever the engine is shut down, so basically the DRL of the 545T is not necessary for our vehicles.
All I am interested is the the auto-on function which is a nice, convenient and safe feature that I think Honda should have built it in. But for around $40, this is not a bad investment to the vehicle. I just wonder if there is anyone else out there who has already installed one in the MDX, I think if it can fit the Ody, it should fit the MDX too.
