| Yup, very cool...we are in the process of doing this to our BMW with the 2.5" monitor inside as well as the V1 |

Wow, that is slick...what are the implications when you upgrade, I wonder?

From what I can tell based on the thread referenced in the one I linked, it looks like they're using the REMOTE portion, which on the V1 I guess has a full display along w/the mute button (as opposed to the Escort's remote, which is power/alert/mute only). They're mounting "the box" elsewhere, often between the seats on the rear window. So you'd just send in the box for upgrade. As long as V doesn't change the wiring/function of the remote, you're golden :) |

I remember seeing that at some BMW site about a year ago.
Although it looks cool, it kind of defeats the purpose of why I bought the remote display, mainly, to discreetly show that there is radar activity.
The V1 has a very large and bright display which I would rather not have visible several cars behind me (especially if the radar source is coming from the rear).
Just my opinion.
As far as upgrading, Valentine has a query tool in which you enter in your serial number and it tells you the difference between your model and the current model. It also makes recomendations on whether you should upgrade or not.
When I last checked it recommended that I NOT upgrade so I just bought a new unit when I bought the MDX. I put the older unit in the MDX and the new one in the CL (the car most likely to benefit from it). :29: |
