Has anyone seen a 2003 brochure from Acura Canada?
Seems like these guys are even more tight-lipped than their brothers to the south!
I noticed that the Acura.ca website has received a makeover during the last few days, but still have only '02 info (in fact, their "new" lead in photo is of a Deep Mahogany Pearl MDX - very nice colour, wish you could still get it!) |

Based on the US exchange rate, set October 1/02, a Canadian O3 MDX (touring, no nav) would cost $31,400 in US funds. My understanding is that the warranty wouldn't be honoured in the US and that you require a Canadian address to actually purchase a vehicle.
Otherwise, there would be a flood of Canadian models in the States. Great for our economy, but our waiting period would probably jump to over a year.

Don't forget, the version that is available for purchase in Canada is pretty much loaded up (no NAV). The US version MDX (similarly equipped) would have cost me $8,500 US more (comparing Las Vegas with Calgary). Like you already mentioned, the warranty is a big issue.
In general, cars, generators, outboard motors or anything else that I can think of that is mechanical is much cheaper in Canada. As is housing ... etc. |

The modest increased in price is quite well justified by the performance and safety improvements (assuming Canadian model gets the same upgrade as the US one). The 2002 model cost $1K more than the 2001 model with only cosmetic improvements (reduced wind noise, intermittent rear wiper, etc.)
For me, the 03 performance improvements are nice to have but not necessary. |
