Will it ever really arrive - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey guys and gals - please make me feel better.

Placed an order for a black/nav on Dec. 16 2000 at Rallye Acura in Long Island, NY. They promised March delivery. I call and call and never get a response, not even an expected arrival date. Is everyone else waiting experiencing the same?
Ialready have the mudguards, tail deflector, moonroof visor, wood shift knob, gold package, etc. to put on it, but no truck. Just getting impatient. Please help me calm down. Also, please let me know if there is a way to find out approximate arrival time.
They promised a March delivery, didn't they? It's not even March yet!

Anyway, have you tried going to other dealerships in the city or here in NJ? The wait might be shorter.
Hang in there! I was promised an early November delivery date (I ordered in late Sept). I waited and waited and only stayed sane because of this website. (THANKS A4L!) I FINALLY picked up my MDX on January 10th. It was very frustrating, but IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!.

If it makes you feel any better (it won't :))...I ordered mine November 17 and Feb was promised. Then...they ordered the right color with the wrong package. So...they are actually reordering. I'm supposed to get the build date...then the vin # and eventually the truck about 10 days following the vin #. I was told it was already ordered and if that's the case, I might be closer. But March/April (latest)l is likely.

In the meantime...I've got first right of refusal out here...and have passed up Mesa Beige and Black to wait for my first color choice. Defecting was tempting.

I, too, have ordered accessories from Tim and they're piling up...I've been thinking about standing my Tailgate deflector in my front window...with some white Gumby-like features on it. Like...where is the rest of me? I might have to pick up a digital camera and add to the gallery! :D

Other than forming a "support group" :)...I don't know what to tell you. I like my dealership, in spite of the mistake and am not intending on shopping around. When the mistake first occurred, I was pretty ticked...but I talked to the salesman on Saturday and he promised to focus on my truck. So...we will see!

Just be glad the weather isn't really great out there yet and think about all the SALT and other road stuff your new truck won't have to endure!!! I am not so lucky...all I miss is driving around in the San Diego sunshine and wimpering everytime my neighbor blasts by in his Mesa Beige.

RGWomack posted the following 2 explanations in a couple of his sites and it might help you understand the process:

Once you get a build date, make them show you. On our Acura list we put the sales rep's name and customer name. Usually the vin arrives a few days after the build dates. Example: Mike's build date was 1-15 to 1-19 I expected the VIN monday the 22nd it didn't show until today 1-25. The vehicle is in transit and will be here in 10 to 14 days, in most cases, sometimes sooner. What some dealers are doing is when they get orders over MSRP the ones who paid MSRP are being bumped to later dates. I hope thats not the case.
Another reason for delays is because we only get so many 182,184,186 and 188's. If you happen to pick the hottest color in your area, It may not go on the next months order.
Good luck.

Does anyone know if the dealers receive any purchase orders or related documentation as proof of orders placed?

When orders are placed it's all done internally at the dealership, Acura has no records as to who the vehicle belongs to. Around the first week of the month we get an allotment of vehicles we will receive the following month. We can do some changing but very little. Some will have build dates, some won't. Through out the month we will get updates with build dates. We place the buyer/salespersons name on that list. We only get so many in our allotment, if the order list is longer than the allotment then those people will go on the next month or maybe the following month depending on the color and model. We are a large dealership so we get more cars. If your dealership gets 15 cars a month and they have 50 orders you can see why some of the long delays. You should be told that up front. Our dealership is very open with the paperwork but in many dealerships salesmen are kept in the dark by management as to these list so your salesman may be making promises he believes are correct. Ask to see the order list, and the months allotment. I notify my customers once I get a build date, the vin should arrive within a week after the build date, the vehicle should be there within two weeks after the vin. We do the paper work once the vin arrives, ask your dealer if you can do this. It's to your benefit, it locks everything down, and keeps some manager or saleman from selling your car.
Sorry for the long post. Good to see the lawyers picked on a little. LOL

You're gonna love it.

Heated seats to keep you cozy sitting in traffic next winter on the LIE. Spacious windows to hand over a few days pay to get across the Bridge. Lots of cargo space in the back to haul all the great wine from Sherry-Lehmans. A place behind the third seat to hide your valuables when you park to see the Tree at Rockefeller center. Nimble handling to cut and swerve just like the cabbies.

You're gonna love it.

Hang in there!
I posted this on Edmunds but doesn't hurt to vent here either! I put a deposit down on a black/saddle/touring/nav in October. At the time, I was only third on the list for my exact specs and was told it would be here late January or early February. I've since been bumped up to first on the wait list since December but no MDX!! My dealer doesn't even have an allotment for it in March. That means, I'm looking at delivery in May at the EARLIEST!!!

Our original salesman was fired and we've since been shuffled around to at least two different sales guys. I feel like we're being lost in the mix! Do you think they've sold our car from under our noses? Maybe to someone who paid over MSRP?

This sucks.
If you're being very particular about color and options, then you'll do better by going to multiple dealers... The dealerships apparently don't know when they're going to get any particular vehicle in... they simply order all the combos & hope for the best. If a vehicle comes in which matches someone on the list, then they'll skip you to give it to that person... otherwise you should get first option on the vehicle. By being flexible in color/options, you'll have better odds.

Good luck.

Today (Feb/15)I received the Vin #. Besides they are not the nicest people, the salesman (Ernie Arana)was very straight forward and told me that the waiting time was over 1 and sometimes 2 months, then he took me over to the board in the showroom where they have the 30 cars they are receiving every month and told to pick from the ones that were not reserved. No gimmicks, only MSRP and like every other dealer, way high in the accessory field.

Try this dealer, you have nothing to loose. I went to Paragon in Queens and they ask me for 3K over MSRP and 3 months. Also I tried all dealers in Long Island ,Park Ave. and Ramsey in New Jersey.

Mushman--

If it makes you any feel better, you have lots of company. I am in the same boat as you. If all was well with the world, I would be picking up GG Touring navi today. (MDX Mom is VERY sad.) I ordered mine on 11/23 and was told a 3-month wait. At least I have a tentative build date of 3/18-3/23 which will bring in the car the 1st week of April.

You should check around to other dealers within a 200-mile radius to see if anyone can help you.

I made up a mantra, "Ordering an MDX is an exercise in patience". Say that whenever you get frustrated. Then, I come to this site to get info and support. Thanks Acura4Life!!!

I know when when I get my car, I'm going to LOVE IT, LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!

Good Luck!
I ordered back in October. Just got my MDX a week ago. The waiting time was 4 months. And my dealer told me that this was not my vehicle and they switched to me because the other customer was out of town for a few months. Anyway I am happy with the vehicle exception for the wind noise. I noticed the wind noise when I did a test drive and still I am annoyed.

Hang in there. It is a beautiful vehicle.
You guys and gals are a great line of support. My wife and family think I am nuts but they just do not understand the MDX legacy and what it really means. I have been saving up my whole life to afford something like this and I am just a huge MDX fan ever since I saw it at the NY auto show last April. This truck is a way of life for me.

I went to the dealer yesterday to trap him and get some information and he finally showed me on a list that I was next for a black nav and the build date will be March 14-15.

Please help me from your experience to let me know when I should receive it after that. I am in the New York City area.

Thanks,

Mushman
