Hi:
I have a 2002 MDX Touring w/o navigation. I liked the navigation system, but didn't think it was worth as much
as $2000.
Is it possible to add this option now
or is it only a manufacturer-installed option ? I bet it is or the dealer would offer it. True ?
Thanks,
Steve |

you win the bet. The navi system would be prohibitively expensive to retrofit. If you search on navigation you will find many threads that have discussed this. Some add on after market units can be installed in your X. I chose to go with a portable gps, the streetpilot 3 deluxe which has voice turn by turn and also recalculating if off route. Happy thread reading to you! :D |

YOu can find the streetpilot 3 deluxe for 750-800 dollars. I also purchase an extension antenna off of ebay for about $25. This let me put the SP3 where the "coin tray" is on console and run the antenna cable up and around to sit on top of the dash and get the necessary clear view of the sky. I've been really happy with it so far, although i just have used it locally for the most part so far. I will be driving from ny to boston next weekend and I'm sure it will come in very handy up there. Hope this is of help! Best of luck to you.:) |

I used mine over the a long weekend in The Catskills lately and I'll tell you it did great. Programmed it to take me from Windham, NY to Woodstock, NY and it took me on a wild route up and over the mountains but it was undoubtly faster than the route I would have taken. It will get you where you want to go. Will it always take you on the most efficient route or the route you would have taken if you mapped out on your own ? No, of course not. But neither will any other GPS. :)
I prefer to keep mine on the dash with the bean-bag mount it comes with. I don't like having to take my eyes off the road to look at. Also I can take it down and set it on the floor when I park in "suspect" areas and I can switch it to my wife's 530i too lickety split.
Got mine for $779 at GPS City. Got it in 4-5 days I think. Easy to set up. http://www.gpscity.com/products/gar...etpilotiii.html
Good luck! |
