Took delivery today of just a black/saddle base. Actually we wanted to get a mahogany, but couldn’t find any anywhere. Order times were past our window for the turn in of our 1997 Expedition off lease. Then one of the dealers we had talked to called with an available black base. It seems Acura and/or the dealer made some kind of error in delivering a previous vehicle. To make up for the incident, Acura sent the dealer an un-allotted black/saddle base. The salesman said if I wanted it all I had to do was drop off a deposit. We did with the expectation of a two to eight week arrival time with the longer time being more likely. It showed up in ten day. Just lucky!
So tonight I’m driving it home when I find out I’m about 4 cars behind another MDX silver on a two lane road waiting to turn left. I’m always interested to see my vehicle on the road as it provides a perspective I seldom see as I’m typically driving! So we separate due to waiting for the left turn. When I stop at the next light, I wonder if it’s still up there in line, but I can’t see it. That is except for it’s dorsal fin. I just laughed and thought, yep, there it is.
I’ve owned 4 Honda’s before, but not since the early 90’s. I have to say the MDX brings back memories. The thin steering wheel, the rather terse instrument panel even the break-in smell after the first couple of drives. However, the leather, size and horsepower help me remember this is a vehicle of a different millennium!
