Many of you have asked for pictures of the color keyed body side moldings that we sell for the MDX and the CL coupe. These moldings come in all factory match colors and are realitively easy to install, Instuctions are included. If you have been looking for the "factory look" so were we. So for a limitted time we will be selling these moldings for $189 plus $7 s&h (plus tax for ohio residents).please allow two weeks from the time we receive your order. We will accept all major credit cards (sorry no amex).
Call and place your order today with MIKE PERKO our parts manager 440.439.8400
or fax him an order on his private fax line at 440.439.7886
or e-mail CHUCK MARKUSIC GSM at acuramoto@earthlink.net
here goes on the picture.
Thanks for your time and enjoy your mdx.

Great looking body trim! I'll get a set soon. Do you know if anybody has color keyed fender flares (not the expensive Acura junk)?
Thanks for the picture. I'm definitely interested.

Can you post one more, from a little farther back, so we can see the overall effect?
Isn't 189 kind of expensive? I've never ordered molding before, but that seems like a lot of money for something that would seem very inexpensive.

The prostripe molding, black only, was about $75 (without installation). Of course, it isn't body color....

My MDX is black, I wonder if it'd be any less expensive than the color coated moldings.

$189+shipping is kinda steep even though its body colored. Thats $47 per door for a piece of rubber. I'd say thats kinda expensive....wonder how much this is marked up.
Wow!!! at that price I will continue to park at the back of the lot and walk. I dont know who you are but you have just joined the ranks of the "hey lets just see how many $$$$ we can squeeze from these" people. Do us a favor if you want our patronige now and in the future send out a some sets to us folks let us try them in the real world and report the results here on the board as well as others, not to mention free advertisment for your product as well as the possibility of recieving orders from Acura dealers. Final thoughts please stop with the inflation of Acc. prices it is becoming ridiculous.

Lets clarify a few things, first of all we are Motorcars Acura in Bedford Ohio a suburb of Cleveland. The whole idea behind selling this body side molding is that it looks great, had a factory color match, (not a plain black molding that can be purchased elsewere) and was in response to reading the forums on this board. Our intent is not to price gouge the customer, but to offer an enhancement to your truck at a fair retail price. Why is it that a few people must talk out of context when they havn't even seen the product. We have been selling this product at our dealership for months, not only on the MDX since Nov '00, but also on the CL coupe for almost a year. What gives? These are body side moldings that are unlike any other that you have seen. If others have chosen to purchasec regular black moldings thats ok. Yes, they are probably half the price, but you choose what you want . BUT PLEASE DO NOT make a statement like stop the excessive pricing of accesories when you are generalizing from a few bad apples. And please, understand that our intrest is to provide a great looking product for your truck.
Sincerely,
Chuck Markusic GSM

In response to your claim of what a wonderful service you are providing for us OWNERS. I will still walk!!! I do not see how you can justify $189 + S&H for body side mouldings, hey here is an idea do body color and chrome for $489 and maybe even carbon fiber I am sure then you could easily justify $989. Stop and breath the oxygen sir it promotes clearer thinking, it is simply a piece of molded plastic generic in type with a coat of color matched paint and 3M auto adhesive tape. I am sure if you were to sell the set for $29 or $39 you would still turn a profit not to mention a large increase in sales. Remember the saying "I would rather sell a million for a dollar than one for a million dollars" word of mouth is a wonderful marketing tool as is volume of sales in the generation of profit revenue. But hey if it's all the same to you those of us who drive will decide. Good luck on all you do.
Glad to see you're reading posts on this forum, motorcars!

I have an SS/Tour-Nav on order for June... I was told by one of your dealers (Mrs. Sharon Mersnik) that you could install remote starter for MDX... what would be the price for it and how would it affect the warranty (if at all)? Is it true that it would provide auto-locking doors?
Hey, motorcars.

What we need is an objective opinion about the moldings. Since none have it installed, why don't you send a couple to guys at acuramdx.org so they can write a review? Maybe they won't even have to install them. Just check them out and send them back to you.

IMHO I think this could be a hot item. We can't judge if it's overpriced or not until someone buys it and tells us what she/he thinks.

Just my 2 cents.

To me the $189.00 doesn't seem like a bad value. From the picture the moldings look like pretty decent quality. Pre-cut to fit the MDX and unpainted I'd presume they're worth about $100. It would cost me at least $89 to have my body shop paint them. And I'm assuming that since Chuck is an Acura dealer if the paint starts to flake off in six months I have some recourse.
Chuck at Motorcars:

Are these things molded in the Acura factory colors, or are you simply spray painting some black plastic trim? If you've gone through the expense of coloring the plastic prior to molding, you can sign me up for a pair right now.

If you're just spraying on paint, you can keep 'em. They're bound to look like crap when the paint begins to chip and peel, as it surely will.
To date we are unaware of any company that can produce a molding with a true factory look with out painting them. All o.e. molding that we have seen is painted. None to date has true color through the whole piece.
The company that supplies us with the molding has been handling trim supplies for dealers for over 20 yrs.and also yes the company has made them in factory match colors.
Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks Motorcar for your attention to the posting @ AcuraMDX.org, I for one appreciate that you are offering a product that fits a need, looks OEM, and is colored keyed. $189 is really very reasonable given the potential for door dings.
Dear ORG,
This is exactly want I have been looking for as well as many of you on the .ORG I thik we should be appreciative to MotorCar for his service.
Ordered Mesa Beige/Trim on 2/23 spoke with Mike(pars man after work, he just happen to be their) he was very helpful,
offering info and advice on installation. I will post pictures after install.
____
Mesa Beige Touring, Running Board,Hood deflector, Towing Package,All weather mats. Purchased from Tim.
Mike's MDX,

Please let me know what you think of them after you've installed. I'm also interested in some mesabeige door ding protectors.

KOT!
Well, considering I have a DENT in my passenger front door which has been giving me a heart attack, I would consider this option. (Getting the dent fixed this Saturday-Thank God)

I was thinking that it appears to be very difficult to install perfectly. I'm anal about my MDX and it would have to be picture perfect installation.

Anyone have an idea on how to make sure it is placed on even and straight? Use tape? Mark you MDX a certain way( )

Thoughts?
Any comments from the people that ordered this product?. I guess many of us would love to hear and if possible see some pics in the different MDX colors.

A4L,

Check out the gallery w/the Prostripe molding post from about a month ago. I had some tips, and included some from jdford, too, when we installed ours. Your install/alignment is no different:

It's 3 or 4 or 5 posts down, after the wooddash ones...
I got a 10 inch scratch (not deep) on the rear passenger door from a rogue shopping cart. I am taking it to one of the dealers that has a body shop to get an estimate this Saturday. It looks like these mouldings would have worked great at protecting against it. If it looks good, I would be very interested.
We justed added a silver mdx touring nav to demo service with many other accessories along with body side moldings. As soon as we devolop the pics we'll post about 15 or so shots of various added features.
Thanks for reading and enjoy your mdx

I just had my dent fixed at The Dent Wizard (www.dentwizard.com) today and they did a great job.

My dent was on the "body line" crease that is even with the door handles.

My important note is:
The guy that works there made an interesting comment.
He said even if you placed body side molding on the MDX, car doors would still strike the "body line" crease that is even with the door handles FIRST. He said it has to do with the way the Acura guys designed the doors.

Take a good look at your door.
This guy is right.
They are curved a certain way so that the "body line" crease STILL sticks out.

Something to think about.
Maybe the side moldings are not worth it.

If it happened to me, I'm sure it will happen to more MDX owners.
