Touring Wheels Are Better Than They Appear... - Click HERE for Original Thread

Picked up my Black/Saddle Touring on Tuesday night. I am really thrilled with the vehicle, especially the ride, handling, and smoothness of the transmission. Coming from a 2000 BMW 528i Sport, an SUV of any sort is a big change, but the MDX feels very carlike and is extremely comfortable.

My main reaction upon seeing the MDX for the first time is that these new Touring wheels are much better in person than in a photograph! There is a depth and shape to the cutouts that doesn't appear in pictures that makes them much more appealing than they first seemed to be. I like them much more than I thought I would.

I agree that the 'plood' is quite fake looking. However, I was in my friends 2002 Escalade the other day which I believe is real wood and it is even uglier.

The MDX arrived at the dealer Tuesday morning and it was in my possession by 7:00 that night. My parents had even driven by earlier in the day and saw it being unloaded! The dealership was very excited about the changes for '03 and mine was the first one they delivered.

All in all, the experience was painless. Ordered the MDX by telephone on the last day of MOVE allocation, sold my BMW and courtesy traded it through the dealer, got 4.29 financing, and a quick but thorough dealer introduction to the vehicle at pickup while my husband handled the paperwork.

Now I'm just looking for reasons to drive because I love this thing!

Congratulations!!! I am jealous. Just sold my car yesterday and am now carless and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my X. Originally should have been able to pick up next Sat. 11/2, but now told perhaps an additional 5 day delay because of the strike on the West Coast.

Glad to hear the wheels are nicer in person. I really liked the wheels on the '02 and was disappointed about that particular change. My husband thinks the '03 wheels are nicer. Can't wait to see for myself.

Enjoy driving this weekend. I am sure you will find every excuse under the sun to make multiple trips.:( :(

I agree!

I stopped by an Acura dealership that had side-by-side 2003 Premium and Touring models.

My opinion.

Both wheel designs look Great! The Premium wheels get high marks for being a new, clean design that will set them apart form other model years. The refinement to the Touring wheel was just enough to be different, yet still left us with a good looking wheel.

Congrats!!!!!

Enjoy your rides. :2:

yeap, after taking closer looks at those closeup photos posted here, i have to agree that the new touring wheel is much better looking than those posted in acura's booklets...

but i still think the old touring wheels looks better, i'm biased i guess...;)

I was one of the first to post a negative comment on the new touring wheels. However, the comment was based on photos only. After seeing the new touring wheels in person two nights ago, my opinion has changed. They look a lot better in person than in the photos. I still like the looks of the 01/02 touring wheels better, but the news do look good.

Are the new wheels lighter than the older ones?

I disagree, I think they look like a slightly modified '02 touring wheel. Notice that instead of the even larger openings around the wheel they have simply alternated them to have the slightly narrower opening between each large opening. I do like the '02 touring wheels alot, but am sure I will like these almost as well over time. I'll just be happy to be able to say I own an "X" regardless of the year.

Saw them in person, still hate them!...

I think the '03 Premium wheels look the best. I'm not very fond of my '02 Touring rims. :2:

I saw the 2003 Touring wheels this weekend. I think they look really good on the MDX, and I didn't like the pictures in the brochure at all. Though I still like the 2002 Touring wheels better.
