Our insurance is not broken down by car/driver. We have three cars insured with two teenage male drivers in addition to my wife and I. All I really see is the grand total:eek:

But if I divide the total by three cars its about $1500 per year. Teenagers are expensive!

That's what I did. . . I combined it with my home owner's insurance. . . all through Statefarm. (This is for a 32 and 33 (wife) year old owners).

Fortunately, the beemer is only $800 annually. . . the wife and I will be taking the 10% reduction course which will lower the rates for the next 3 years.

Should be paying $996.60 when X arrives with State Farm. $250 deductibles, 100/300 and all the other standard stuff.

Hi All:

___I don’t have my 03 X yet but its $725 yearly 100/300 with multiple car and Home discount through an independent using Travelers. At least that is what she told me 4 weeks ago? I carry a $1K deductible which reduces the out lay quite substantially … Now if I can just keep any future speeding tickets off the record ;)

$800 a year, 500 deductibles, in Southern California. It was about $1200 the last year, I was definitely suprised when I saw the renewal last week. Don't know why it went down so low :dunno:
Usually in this area (Orange County) it's pretty expensive but you gotta shop around to find a good deal.

However, I am only 24 and am the only person and only car on the policy so I don't get any discounts.

$845.20/yr - State Farm 100k/300k/100k; $500 deductable

My Lexus RX300 is $763.20/yr - same coverage. I thought that was odd, since the RX MSRP was higher than the MDX & both cars are 2001, both driven the same miles, etc

I also have home owner's with State Farm, but I think the rates are high given that I work from home & my wife doesn't work. (well high unless you live in NJ OMG!!).

The rates here in TX are 2x what they are in TN & OR, and if you live in Dallas county they are even higher.

I was qouted $1200.00 with a $500.00 deductable. This is in New Jersey with no tickets. Thank god for the fact that Acura did not use Xenon Hi-intensity head lights. They are stolen left and right over here. Crap like that just makes insurance rates crazy. TL's in Jersey are always missing head lamps at the mall or movie theaters. That's what kept me from looking at the Type-S.:(

Without some definitional base line, the poll IMHO is meaningless as it does not compare apples with oranges. E.g, liability levels, deductibles, med pay limits, UM/UIM limits, mulit-car discounts, etc, etc.

There can be a 100% difference between pitifully low limits on a basic policy required by law, and what one should carry to protect their assets and themselves in the case of an umninsured or underinsured other party at fault.

My roughly $1200 premium would be about $1000 with a multiple car discount--but I recenlty sold the second car, and about 65% of that if I had only basics.

Good point but this isn't really science. Most of the people explain their general coverages anyway. It's more of a comparison of costs throughout the country.

Well, then it costs me about $650 a year for basic coverage, instead of $1200 factoring out umbrellas, and high limits.

I am trying to get some information on insurance I am getting my 02 MDX in a few week's in Baltimore. Can you please share your insurance rates on anything on a 01-03 MDX

If you have anything Higher then those models please don't share because the newer they are the more money :)

01-03 would be perfect if you can give me some ideas on your insurance rates your paying, please throw me some figures. How much your practically paying a month/year/etc.
UncleMilt
For what it's worth, you can call your current insurance carrier and they'll tell you what they would charge.

And since nobody else has replied, I'll tell you I pay $964/yr to Farmer's for my 2005. Multi-car, home/auto, etc. discounts included.
nightguy
I don't know that the results will tell you much. Zip codes make a big difference and since most people would still have full coverage, you're going to have to take those into account. You might want to know what liability limits they have too.

Just a thought.

Mr. Ryan,

I don't know what this will do for you. Territory (garaging location), driver driving record, limits of insurance, deductibles, number of drivers, credit score, and discounts all factor your premium GREATLY. You can I can have everything the same but credit score and driving history and our premiums may be 50% different.

Best way to get what you're looking for is to call agents/companies for quotes. Won't cost you anything but your time.

Good luck.

Here's an excerpt from Consumer Reports:

quote:
The Internet should be a great place to shop for auto insurance. By visiting a web site, consumers could get competing quotes, find the best deal, and purchase a policy without talking to an insurance agent.

The top six auto-insurance shopping web sites we examined were, however, a disappointment. Only one--InsWeb.com--proved useful.

For our assessment, two reporters and our Consumer WebWatch team, which is supported by grants from The Pew Charitable Trusts, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the Open Society Institute, joined together to examine the web sites. A reporter talked to company executives and industry experts to learn who owned the web site, whether the site sold policies online, and how many states each covered.

To find out how easy it is to get a quote, reporters counted the number of questions consumers have to answer. Using a DSL Internet connection, we did one time trial of each site, using a model married couple in Santa Monica, Calif., insuring two cars. The web-site quotes were generally higher than those found on the California Insurance Department's web site. Using only one of the top six could mean you'll miss the lowest premium.

Then our WebWatch team (www.consumerwebwatch.org) gave each site an e-Rating, which reflects how well the site meets specific criteria in five categories. Overall credibility is based on three elements: Privacy and security--Clear policy statements, including a pledge not to share personal information without a consumer's explicit permission and a clear indication that a security system is working. Customer service--An offer of toll-free telephone assistance available 24/7, and prominent Help and FAQ sections. Disclosure--Easy-to-locate information on the site's ownership and its phone number, headquarters address, and advertising relationships. Two other categories we also evaluated: Usability--Easy navigation, clear and concise questionnaires, and instant quotes. Content--Educational information and tools to help consumers choose and monitor their insurance coverage.

Here are key observations about the six web sites:

InsWeb.com was most useful. It took 14 minutes from start to quote, and provided instant and detailed custom quotes from nine insurers.

Insurance.com has spotty coverage, with affilates in only 19 states. It gave us only four quotes, and the 23-minute questionnaire seemed more intrusive than the others.

Esurance.com and Progressive.com are one-company sites that sell only their own products. They do, however, provide instant rate comparisons from a handful of competitors gathered from state insurance-department web sites.

Insure.com covers only one state--California--where it acts as agent for 9 insurers and says it quotes rates from 16. The site also serves as a gateway for Progressive.com, which is where it links shoppers from the rest of the country.

NetQuote.com provides no instant quotes. Instead, it sends your questionnaire to an affiliated insurance agent who will e-mail a response to you. According to NetQuote, average response time is four days.

Got my quote considering how young I am very surprising. I got a quote for $228 month/12 months

anyways its not bad but that is under my own policy. I am gonna get under my dads policy because I am still under 25 years old. I heard drivers over 25 years old have cheaper insurance a lot cheaper. But I been driving ever since I was 16 I have an excellent driving record so things are looking good. I am hoping I can get a rate maybe $160-170 a month who knows :D.

That would be really great for me, I am putting 10 grand on the mdx, and financing the rest. Here is the deal I got

02 Blk Touring Mdx/navigation/tan leather 80k miles for $18,600

What do you think? I am going to get my financial stuff all together going to pick it up in a week and a half. Ill have my dad with me to check it out he is a certified mechanic, any advice looking at used mdx's like what to look for?

Seems like a lot but it's been a while since I've been single and under 25. Also drove a used K car which probably made a difference.

You're spending 14% of the purchase price on insurance on a (at least) 3 year old vehicle. Consider that I'm paying around $1400 on my '04 for full coverage. True I'm married and have 3 cars, but wow ! $2700 ? Maybe it's the zip code.
jowardb
Well,

I'm paying 2000CND for two vehicles, but I guess the fact I'm been driving for close to 20yrs may also be a factor.
Mr Ryan
My zip code is 19149 but that is under my own policy $229 a month full coverage considering im under 25 that isnt that bad. I mean my Audi tt was about 220 a month and I was on my dads policy. So I am guessing on my dads policy itll be around $150-170.00 a month for the MDX ill find out today

Anyways what do you think of the deal I got

02 Black MDX/Tan Interior/80k miles/Navigation/Touring I am getting it for $18,500

I put a deposit on it, will be picking it up within 2 weeks. anyways anyone know what things I should be looking for when I bring my dad to check it out he is a certified mechanic, any suggestions or anything specific you should look for on a MDX?

Now you guys got me wondering what other fellow NYers pay. For my '04 with full (mid-level) coverage from Geico, I'm paying about 1800 a year.

I'm also wondering if that 25yr old thing is true or not. I turned 25 last year and didn't notice a big difference in my rate. It went down maybe $90. That's it.

It's only going to affect liability and collision. Your car has as much chance of being stolen if you're 16 or 66. Mine didn't go down much either until I got married. I knew there was some kind of reasoning for getting hitched.

Guys,

Please continue the discussion, but I recommend you don't post your coverage deductibles or limits for everyone to see. As a C-level exec for an insurance company you don't want everyone to know your deductibles.

P.S. I haven't seen one post yet where someone mentions their credit score. It means more to rating than you think.

Now, back to the discussions....

NJ Rates are extremely high. Mercury quoted me $3200, Geico wanted $2500 a year. So I transferred everything under my dads insurance(NJM Ins) for $1200 yearly premium.

Determining factors:
I had 1 speeding ticket exactly 4 yrs and 10 month ago.
No accidents (God willing)
No Thefts
Non Married
Under 29 years old.

I paid less than $800 for the whole year with max coveage. Here is the list of coverage.

1. 250/500/100 BIPD
2. 250/500/50 UIMPD
3. 10000 Medical
4. 500 Comp Ded.
5. 500 Collision Ded.
6. Glass BuyBack Ded.
7. Towing

Being an insurance agent, I know there are many different ways to lower the premium. First, there is a plus if you were over 25 years old. Second, if you parents are good drivers within the last 3-5 years, they can add your name into their insurance package to qualify for special rate discount. Of course, if your house or rental insurance, multi-car, life insurance, etc. within the same household, I can guarantee that you can save at least over 25-50% off the standard price. I hope this information is beneficial to you.

The '05 MDX is very resonable to insure. It's very close to my '01 Pathfinder and much less than my MB SLK!

Total per year @ $2000/year for all 3 with $100 deductable.

When I was in NJ I paid $2700, but I was under 25 then and had a two-seater (Honda CRX) which is really hard to insure. Insurance companies assume all 2-seaters are Corvettes I guess.

In NY state I paid $1200 for the X, and that's because I get a discount for having the homeowners policy with the same company.

I was paying $2400 a year on a 1988 CRX Si in NJ. When I moved down to VA for grad school I transferred the policy and it dropped to $380/yr. I came home 1 year later and the same policy went up $500 to $2900 and I had turned 25 in that year! I never left State Farm between policies and had a perfect record.

I dopped them and have been with Liberty Mutual ever since.
