I want to put a bicycle rack on a trailer hitch. I don't think I need the $600 Acura version just for that use. Any suggestions? Thanks

hiddenhitch.com, cost is $99. I have got one and it is great.

Go to UHAUL!

What does UHAUL offer? Just hitch, or cooling addition too?

Would the extra cooling stuff be needed to tow a jetski or two ?

I'm looking also right now.
eTrailer has Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and accessories.

eTrailer.com

I think I'm going with all Draw-Tite products.
Hitch, Folder 3 Bike Rack, and Ski Adapter.

Just a hitch. That is if you only want to hang bikes off of the hitch, no cooling is needed!

hmm, this stuff might be better than the roof-top carriers since you can load/unload in the garage. are you aware of any drawbacks? or advantages of using the roof-top carriers?

After 4 weeks and 1,100 miles of dirt/gravel/mud roads, the two bikes behind my MDX were completely unfunctional until after a complete rear axle tear town and chain replacement. Preventable had I rinsed them out and regreased the moving parts regularly during the trip.

For "normal," transportation there is no drawback to using a hitch rack over a roof attachment, other than slightly more dirt on long multi-day drives, especially in the mountains during winter. I wasn't real happy during an Easter holiday coming back from Moab with all the Utah road-salt and red mud-water splashing up from the highway. Its easier to load and unload and less wind noise than overhead racks.

I strongly recommend a hitch bike rack that has a swing-out feature (not tilt-down) so that you can open your hatch without removing all the bikes from the rack. Tilt-down's don't work well when you have four 35 lb bikes (140 lbs), unless you are into body building.

Thanx alot Bruce. Very good points to consider.

I went with the hidden hitch. I use a thule space station receiver (the swing away model) with a rak & loc module. Works very well.
