According to the trip computer, that is. Somehow the trip computer got a hiccup - must be the cold. Happened once before.

I could see coasting downhill with a tailwind and getting that kinda mileage :)
This also would indicate an average speed of > 86mph, would it not? Is "kinmanc" the screen-name for David Letterman?

| I had the same experience with the trip computer posting an average mpg. Mines posted at 38 mpg. I knew it was giving me a false reading I could never get that good mpg from my old 4 cylinder car before. I reset the trip button and it corrected itself. |

| The same thing has happened to me a few times... I noticed that what happens is the "trip mileage" doubles randomly which caused the average to skyrocket. I wonder if this "feature" is how Honda arrived at the 23 MPG figure??? Just kidding I've actually gotten around 22-23 on long highway runs. I'll be asking my dealer about this when I bring in for the dreaded BOSE radio problems. |

| I went to a gas station to fill up and took off the gas cap and was not able to get gas since the pump would not take my credit card. I left the station without any gas. A few minutes later, I checked the gas milage and the miles had doubled and it showed over 30 MPG. My MDX Trip computer must have thought I had gotten gas???? |

Today, my trip computer showed double for average mpg what it was showing yesterday. From some of the posts, this seems to be a common glitch or defect with the MDX.
Has anyone heard from Acura why it does this? I hope it isn't going to be a constant problem. I've had 600 trouble-free miles so far on the MDX, for 620 total miles. |

:D This just happend to me. I had a question and you answered it! I believe this happens when the AUTO RESET is turned on. Somehow in the middle of driving it resets and adds the new numbers to the old ones. I set mine to manual this week. I will let you know if it helps. PLEASE EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. WHAT IS YOUR SETTINGS????

Mine was set on "Auto Reset" and it doubles while I am driving, from 18.2 to 36.4 mpg. It happened only once for a month and half (2000 miles) ownership.

My gas mileage has been going the other way. From 21 to about 18.5. Broke out the tire pressure gauge and discovered that I was running 32 lbs hot. When I let them cool it was 26-28 lbs. Needless to say I pumped them up. Looks like I will have to be a little more deligent on checking the pressure at least monthly.

Since I posted this picture in Februry, I am happy to report that this problem never occur again. :D :D
When I first had my MDX, the history button was greyed out sometimes, even if I had the navigator on (pushed OK on the initial screen). This problem was also gone. |
