What are we talking about. . . non-navi into a navi. . . or a navi into a tv display?

If it is the former, I would be interested
Big Gorilla
Yes I am interested

Isn`t the full price without tax and shipping $525
Wonder how simple his new product is regarding installation plug and play or lots of techncal installation reguired $
Would anything have to be added other than the obvious back up camera itself to allow the back up camera to work?
How many members need to purchase to qualify for group purcahse?

eek eek
King Kong
kishino
Would be interested. Need to see the instructions on how easy it is. Also what will the exact price be. Hopefully this is a DIY job.

I would be interested for the conversion including installation.
dbuono
I would be interested as well.

Been wanting this since day one.....:D

Count me in!!

Even if I had to buy it, and then take it to someone local to have it installed, I can probably still save some money, right?

Check out MDXtrous video install in the audio and video forum here.

He clearly has not only his DVD playing through the NAV screen, but also TV and games as well.

I was referring to the former... converting non-navi to navi, not the latter...

UMM I am completely lost here. Is this a group buy for a navigation system for those that didn't opt for the option or is it to convert navigation screen to accept DVD and rear camera? HELP

hockeyplayer,

It has to be the navi screen adaptation for DVD/camera input. The non-navi (trip computer) to navi is NOT possible..

Sorry 'bout that.....I guess I got the "former" and "latter" thing mixed up.....:o

Non-Navi to Navi is not possible (or Very difficult-Nothing is impossible).

Group buy for video input via Pioneer AVC-RG1 is also not likely. This is a discontinued item. I would be VERY surprised if a vendor had more than 5 of these at a time. Because of their lack of availability, they can and are sold at a premium.

I've been looking for a while for this item. I've only seen it at a price that I'm willing to pay. This item originally went for about a $100.

I've seen the instructions. Pretty easy for someone who has hooked up some car audio and has a basic knowledge of electronics, pretty difficult otherwise.

There is another vendor that sells this conversion but does not want to sell to people other than other vendors. They want the installation done by them or another professional.

If you do get this group buy going, depending on the price, I'm interested.

MDXTROUS: Is there that much interference with your current set-up? Ron hasn't come back with a ballpark price. Do you have any idea? Hope something comes of this potential group buy.

I'm not sure what you mean by interference. I do get a bit of noise (snowy image, but you really have to look for, it's not that obvious) when I play videos, but, this improved unit is supposed to take that out.

I think it was originally quoted as $550 or something like that...
hockeyplayer
oh, I was just curious as to why you wanted in on the group buy when you already got the "dream" set-up. I do remember you had mentioned that you were getting some "noise" and was wondering if you were going to "upgrade" to the unit described by Ron.
MDXtrous
I'm not going to upgrade. I was just thinking of helping set up the group buy. I'm just waiting to hear from Ron, if he'll do a group buy or not.

Gotchya. :29:

I read on the acura-tl forum that the price is 500.00. I still have some questions regarding this. Does the box just plug right into navigation unit, and also do you need to hook up any power wire.
It would be great if Ron could post the instructions, once I see the instructions then I will know if I should purchase the unit or not.

Does anyone know if a tv tuner that is a separate unit has better reception than a tv tuner that's attached to a vcp or a dvd player? Or are they all the same and if one has a vcp with tv tuner how can they enhance the reception? :2: :p  :7: :9:

I apologize to jump in this thread, but i just wanted to answer this ?.

I think a separate tuner (diversity) is a lot better than "build in" one. also, you'll need powered diversity antenna/s. the closer you are from the station transmitters (antennas) the better the reception. See my setup below...

been searching internet for awhile looking for a wireless camera for reverse camera. Has anyone seen anything for around $100-125 that is weather proof, small, and wireless?
ArtK
I'd like to be counted in on the nav group buy!

Maybe a deal with camera and relay added in?:2:
