My “hilarious” experience with hondacuraworld.com - Click HERE for Original Thread

Did you, guys, ever watch Canadian comedy show Kids In The Hall? I love this show and used to watch it a lot. They had an episode about a guy who stops at shoe repair shop to fix his shoes. Repairman says it will only take couple of minutes and goes to the backroom behind the curtain. The guy stands there in coat, suit and barefoot. He waits, and waits, and waits until his patience runs out, he storms into the backroom and finds the repairman watching TV. “Where are my shoes?!” he demands. “What shoes?” “The shoes you took from me 30 minutes ago!” “Oh, your shoes… Here. They are ready…” “But these are shoetrees!!! Where are my shoes?!!!” And it goes on and on until the guy realizes it’s hopeless and runs out of the shop without his shoes. :2:
I was recalling this episode as I was trying to keep my sense of humor and laugh at my shopping experience with hondacuraworld.com. I am new MDX owner but long time reader on this forum, so when I took delivery of my new X, naturally I went online and ordered some accessories from hondacuraworld.com. One of the things I ordered was Wood Meter Trim. It arrived 2 days later, but the package looked suspiciously big. When I opened it I found Pilot mats for a customer in Pennsylvania. I left Tim a message and when he didn’t call back the next day I called again and he told me that UPS must have put wrong label on my order, but because it was Friday I would not get my order until Tuesday. I was a little upset because I planned to install it in the daylight over weekend, but figured things happen. On Tuesday I arranged with my babysitter to be at home and when UPS didn’t show up I called Tim again. He said he’d check, put me on hold, then came back to ask what was the problem again, which made me to believe he had no idea about my order. I explained again and was told that he would ship it right away  and that it would arrive on Thursday. I arranged with my babysitter to stay at home and you can understand my disappointment when I got Wood Shift Knob instead of Wood Meter Trim. I called Tim again and explained what happened. He told me that he would ship my order overnight so that I can get it on Friday, that is today. I said great, because it meant I could install it this weekend. I arranged with my babysitter to be at home and when UPS didn’t show up I called Tim again. I was told that he already left for the day and no one seemed to have any idea about my order and why it wasn’t shipped. They told me it could only be shipped next week, which means I missed 2 weekends now.
So my questions are:

1. Is it common or I just had bad luck with them?
2. If it is common, are there other websites where I can order accessories?

I apologize for the long post.

1. If it is common, I must be in the minority, I've received the most efficient and prompt service from hondacuraworld. I think your experience may be an anomaly.

2. The only other resource I've used for purchasing accessories are a few vendors on ebay. While you may find better prices on ebay occasionally, its a crap shoot. If you wan't your goods sooner, rather than later, at an extremely competitive price, I recommend hondacuraworld.

Sorry about your experience, but if I know Tim, he'll make it up, and It wont happen again IMHO.:4:

The fast delivery, great prices, and friendly personable service that I've received from Tim caused me to read your post with skepticism (although I have no reason to believe that you are being 100% honest with us). I truly understand your frustration about missing several installation opportunities, including two weekends -- a similar thing happened to me with a part I ordered from a different vendor for a different vehicle. Tim will most certainly make it up to you somehow! Right, Tim? You see, Tim has hit some fantastic milestones that would have been unattainable without the quality service that we've all come to expect. My vote is for 'uncommon' and hope you will have future dealings with him that will prove my comments in this post.

BTW -- this is my 500th post (that number under my avatar will change, but I know this is my 500th post!) and it seems a bit odd that my 500th post is one that is lauding the services of hondacuraworld and not the X itself!

The IRS might audit one in a thousand, which are great odds, unless you happen to be the one that gets audited.

Tim has a great track record - as shown by the folks here, and by my own dealings with him (I'll bring up the story of losing the retaining nut on my tailgate deflector someday when I'm ready to own up to it - Tim sent a new one the same day).

So keep your sense of humor (wondering what you're going to get next?) - hey, you're driving a new X, soon to be outfitted with new meter trim. As we like to say here, things could be worse!

At least you are receiving misc. acura/honda parts that you can look at to see if you may wish to order these in the future---as opposed to receiving the Canadian fellows shoes that were lost in the shoe repair place!
I have only ordered once from Tim as I am a new MDX owner since last Sept. The service in my 1st order was excellent w/ fast shipping. I also got the correct part I ordered.

You've only lost time at this point and the time to install meter trim is nominal.

I wonder if the purpose of airing your frustration publicly is an attempt to get something extra from Tim for the mistake. It's not like your CC was charged and the vendor skipped town.

Your experience with Hondaworld is not common. With the three orders I have placed service and communications has been excellent. I had one problem (damaged hood deflector) that was corrected promptly with only one phone call.

If poor service was common with Hondaworld you would have read about it here. As you have probably noticed members here are not shy about posting problems.

It could be one of those "Murphy's Law" things, when one thing goes wrong, everything does. I have had this happen before with a few customers in my business and a sense of humor is about all that helps.

Call Tim personally again and I'm certain that he will correct this.

Thank you for all your responses. I did research on this forum before posting and was impressed at absence of any negative comments about hondacuraworld. And I don’t remember seeing anything in the user agreement prohibiting such comments. :p So I had second thoughts about sharing my experience, but decided to take a liberty. After all, this is the place to discuss all MDX related experience. I am glad I am in the minority on this one, as I suspected. It must be just a string of unfortunate coincidences. As we say back in country, I was dissed so I had to represent! :26: But now that I think about it I realize that, as we say back in da hood, accidents will happen in the best regulated families. :14: As for suggested hidden agenda, the only thing I am trying to get from hondacuraworld is attention to me as a paying customer. My wife and my babysitter try to suppress a smile now when I tell them that UPS guy should bring a package… :D But I have to give hondacuraworld a credit, this is my second order and the first one was on time and without any problems. And they sound like nice people on the phone. They said they are just very busy. But the prices are good! :18:

P.S. Anybody needs Pilot mats and wood shift knob at discount price? :2:

And I really like Tim's haircut. Looks a lot like mine.:2: (Hint, I shine on top)

Hope Tim replies to this thread.
Just want to see how things get resolved.

Definate anomoly but we all learned something from this ... Tim is human after all, I was starting to worry that he was godlike with his great service, great pricing, and always willing to be there for us.

I suspect that Tim may be suffering from "too much success" (happens at times).

Plus a new addition to his family. Maybe you should be happy that at least it was a car part you received, and not something for the nursery! :D

That's right, if my memory is correct (questionable, it's been 28 years) adequate sleep is not common with a newborn in the family.

Guess I'll chime in and vote for "uncommon." My few orders with Tim (Hondaacuraworld.com) have been nothing short of excellent. Also, I've had my fair share of poor service from others....

Hey Tim, if you just so happen to accidentally ;) throw in a wood-grain meter trim kit with that cargo net I just ordered, I'll completely understand. :4:
laborlitigator
Hey, give Tim a break. . . I think he's overwhelmed by the number of orders. . .

Anyway, Tim, if you want to accidentally ship me the cargo box when I order an emblem, it's alright

You're right, we made a mistake.

When we went to the records file to re-send your order, we had accidentally pulled the burl shift knob order out instead of the woodgrain meter panel order, resulting in your order being reshipped incorrectly. You will have your new part by Wednesday of this week, there was a slight delay because I couldn't get the replacement anywhere locally.

Please accept my apologies. As many can attest to, I don't ignore problems when they arise. We are after all human, and only two of us coordinating hundreds of orders per week. When you called and spoke to me I promised I would handle the problem, and believe me, I always keep my word :)

Midsized,

Tim will give you credit if you ship the stuff back to him, just call him ahead of time and let him know...I sent a bad body side molding piece back for around $11.00 through Mailbox, Etc. and Tim was extremely gracious in getting the credit processed....

You guys gonna accept this EXCUSE. We all know why Tim dropped the ball on this one. It's because of the big announcement he made 2 weeks ago. I think he's just having some sympathy issues with his wife. You know, forgetfulness, morning sickness, misplacing stuff, etc. I think it's catching up to him. This does not look good for us here guys. I think we should to talk to Eric more now. JK Tim, I'm sure this is an isolated incident. Tim is still 'DA man!!!
gadgetdog
hum... sounds like we should all be sending Tim baby stuff soon!

as for the mistakes... Yes, Tim does make mistakes. Yes, UPS does make mistakes. Yes, we make mistakes too!

As for the question of someone else that you can get accessories from... yes, your local Acura dealer... They never make mistakes, will charge you a fair price, and even promise you a free MDX after the seventh accessory you buy.

Sorry, I didn't read the announcement :) and didn't know you tried to get a replacement. Wednesday is no problem. Congratulations on the baby! I had mine a year ago and still cannot recognize my life... Have fun! :D
