Here is a Web page that shows what cities are coverd in the 2001 Alpine Navi DVD.

https://esales1.alpine-usa.com/dos/...areas_honda.htm

They still have a long way to go to get better coverage. I still think it is the best option ever. Just add EMail download and Weather/news downloads and it would be perfect. Maybe even DVD Movies??
It's only a matter of time ma' brotha !

:D

Navi ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Apline Navagation DVD. Is that better the the DVD that comes with the new MDX's? If so, is it avalable for the MDX?
Would anyone post the Pros / Cons on the Nav. system. I have yet decided to foot the extra $$ for the Nav. I had talked the a salesperson from where the new DVD updates are ordered from and she had said that most people are very dissapointed w/ the amount of information that was actually put into the upgrade for $150.

Waiting w/ anticipation!!!!!!!

I believe the Navi that comes with the MDX is made by Alpine. (Help me out here Steameng8)

I don't have mine yet, but I heard it is the best available in the market right now..HANDS DOWN.

I live in North New Jersey (15 minutes from N.Y.C.) & my brother has a TL w/ Navi and he loves it. He said it is must, at least in NJ / NY.

It has great range and information in this area.

I am TERRIBLE with directions...it is a MUST for me.
WORTH EVERY PENNY !!

Good Luck !!

We got our Mahogany Tour/NAV MDX just before Thanksgiving. In our opinion, the nav is worth it. It doesn't have every back or side-road, but it is better than nothing. I have NAV in my BMW, and the Acura system is far better. Touch screen interface is nice. DVD is faster than the CD based system in the BMW.
Thanks for your replys, (to continue)

Have any of you had a Nav. system long enough where you paid the $150 for the upgrade. I live in NJ,1/2 hr. outside of NYC, and I agree it has an adequate amount of info for this area. When I was looking at the Nav. system, I scrolled over to Penn, DE, & Maryland and it was as though I was in the mid-west. The screen was blank, other than Rt.95 there weren't many other roads. That made me think that Acura made sure that the areas around each dealership was taken care of and they will get to the rest of the contigous USA later at $150 a pop from us.

Acura4Life- where did you buy your MDX?

Note- I just got in contact w/ a MDX dealership, hondacuraworld.com, and they sell the acc. for cheaper w/ the instructions for installation.

Hi Ihateliares
I had a 97 RL with a navi and I liked it very much. The country was divided into 9 cartriages and I am almost sure that it was an Alpine system. I then bought 99 S80 Volvo with a navi and beleive me, IT SUCKED.It had a CD and was still 1 of 9 for the country. I now am a proud owner of a MDX w/tour and navi. Its great, believe me it is super. Now it is one CD for the entire country. I live in south jersey and I find it very detailed down here.

Go for it Big Al

That's a big 10 - 4 on hondaacuraworld for CHEAP accessories.

I have my MDX w/ Navi & Touring arriving at Montclair Acura in Verona NJ. That's NORTH New Jersey. They've treated me like a king so far. Just been waiting 4 months !!!

Can't wait any longer !!!!

:D
Acura4Life,

When you put the paperwork together at Montclair, did they insist you pay for glass etching and wheel locks. I've read in another discussion that more and more dealerships are trying to make $$ on a feature that some police stations do for free or for a small price. Then w/ the wheel locks, Montclair wants me to pay $79.00 for them when I can get them from the .com store I listed above has them for $32.50.
