| How can you tell front from rear rail. Mine look exactly alike and only the front one fits. The rear is about 1 inch too long. Anyone had this problem before??? |

Does the "rear" also fit the front? If so, you have a real problem.
Stand them up vertically, foot to foot. The front should be about 3/4" taller. If the front and rear are both the same height, and they both fit the front, but neither fit the rear, then you have two front racks. Did you get them in a packaged set, or did you purchase the rack pieces separately? If separately, its likey the parts guy ordered two of the front, assuming incorrectly that they were identical to the rears. Sloppy parts work. Check your invoice and bring both back to the dealer to show the parts employee. I've had a situation were an MDX part was mis-numbered at the factory and the parts guy had to order the right-side piece to get the left-side, after several attempts and phone calls to central processing. Or, it could be a packaging probelm whereby they placed two front pieces into the same rack set package. Anyhow, take it all back. |

| I thought mine were both front ones, too. But I finally, after using a bit of force, got them installed. I don't think you could actually install the front one on the back, so I must've just had a tight fit! I'd suggest checking them against each other, and if they are at all different, then you could try my method (brute force) or return them -- maybe they vary slightly and a different set might fit better. |

I measured and they are both the same length!! Called the dealer and he is shipping a replacement. This group is very helpful, I was about to get my hacksaw out and MAKE it fit :-)
Thanks,
Mark

I am in the process of installing the rack. Same question. I am surprised the install instructions do not make any comment about differentiating the fornt from the rear. One cross bar has the label on it about not exceeding the load. I'll go measure again. |
