.......and a partridge in a pear tree!!!

Sorry, saw your list and a tune came into mind.

I use 2 shiny bolts on the top only. There is enough tension in the frame that holds it tight against the plastic plate.
I substituted all my plate bolts (F&R) with allen bolts to make them more resistant to street vandals.

What would make a plate even more resistant to street vandals, is not to have a front plate at all. IMHO It's aesthetically pleasing. I think California law states you must have a front plate, however, I have not seen it enforced. I understand a number of X owners are just saying 'NO" to the front plate..:4: I'm not sure about Kansas though.

thanks Dale I'll give it a shot.........:D oh yeah you were right about the christmas song!!! :D In Totto's land :D front lisence plate is not required, but I just thought about nose to nose parking kind of scary with taller cars...... ;)

I've always just taken the plate to the dealer on the first service and they have installed it free. Don't see why Acura should be any different. If not, they should at least install the bracket if your State requires a front plate.

We shall see what happens at the next meet.
At our September blow-out only 2 of the 11 cars had no front plates.

Ditto. Completely agree. :29:

In San Francisco and most parts of the Bay Area, there are these new "big brother" type equipment that takes photo's of your vehicle as you race through a red light or evade toll on the bridge. Given that the front plate is necessary for the photo to be enforceable, the local and state law enforcement folks have stepped up the need to pull offending vehicles over.

In the past, it use to be a "fix it" ticket and no fine, but now, just like being caught with tint on the front window, it is both a fine and a "fix it" ticket. Bottom line is that it becomes one more thing to be concerned about as you are minding your own business and enjoying your ride. It can really ruin your day to have a peace officer ask for your autograph.:1pat:

Let's see, illegal tint on my front side windows, illegal HIDS in place of halogens, maybe no plates would do me in!

Why are your HIDS illegal? Because they weren't OEM? I am considering them and already plan on the front tint but I don't wan't the double whammy. I already have to change my path to work every Friday because there is a police check point on my way and my wife already got a $70 ticket for the front tint. I don't want to keep paying for both cars and the HIDS would add insult to injury.

I bet most cops think the HIDS are standard anyway.

I don't believe that HID's are illegal. They were not part of the OEM because of a decision from Honda. The HID's are offensive to people driving the other direction and Honda Motors was concerned that these "offended" people would view Acura offensively. At least that is the story that I got from my friend that works for Honda in Japan. I believe that the front lights become illegal when the color approaches something other than white. I have seen some of these lights have a "more than normal" blue tint to them and that would not be a good thing. :o Just my two cents on the matter.

All these disclaimers on the HID websites seems to imply they are only for off-road. Protecting their own behinds I'm sure, and understand that.
And it's true, on any 2000 or later vehicle, cops are likely to think it's standard or a factory option.
Also, the darker window tints are very common in warmer parts of the state, ike the central valley and desert areas.
My windows are only one 'grade' darker than legal. But that sure makes a difference on a hot day, I'll tell ya!

The tint guy I went to a few months back only would do a tint shade that was legal. The sample he had did not look that much darker than the stock tint on the front windows so I did not have it done.

The place I went to was a bit evasive, but they say "this is the one MOST people go for, it's technically illegal but no one has come back."

I had a similar experience... The shop owner said he has the same tint on his Escalade for a few years with no problem... So I said no problem...:4:

Nothing on the front windows is legal in NJ but I've had 20% on the front windows of my wife's '97 CR-V for the 5 years we've owned it. Only one ticket last summer at a police checkpoint. We've never been pulled over for the tint.
