I am currently nego. with a dealer and sales tell me that included and not and option is the following; wheel locks, floor matts, cargo cover, cargo mat,and pin striping. This will be and added cost of $1,895.oo.
My question is that does this already come on the tour pk. and it seem awfully expensive for those item. Your thought please.
Duncan Acura in Roanoke is the dealer. |

Heck no, thats not included in the Touring package! You are being taken for a ride my friend. All that stuff is added by the dealer to bleed more money out of you.
Most people buy those items after the purchase to save lots of money. Just compare the cost of your dealer's ridiculous package price to HONDACURAWORLD single item prices.
JUST SAY NO!:3: |

| Except for the floor matts, which are standard, the rest are accessories. Pin stripping is a dealer option, both Acura dealers in my area don't charge for it if you want it. |

Welcome to the board JohnR.:7:
Check with other dealers because the items you mentioned are options (forced apparently) and are over priced at that. The dealer is trying to take advantage of uninformed buyers looking for a vehicle in short supply IMHO.:9: |

Welcome JohnR,
All the items you mentioned are optional dealer options. Way overpriced. Best prices and service are from Tim at www.hondacuraworld.com with free shipping. Carpeted floormats come standard with the MDX. All season (rubber) floormats are an option. Look for another dealer that don't force these overpriced items on you. Good luck. |

Like everyone here has said: WATCH OUT for this dealer! You've been given very sound advice.
Welcome to the board, look around awhile, you'll find tons & tons of info, advice, opinions, to help you make informed decisions. The folks here are friendly, and no question is ever a dumb question (thank goodness)! :1zhelp:
By the way, where are you in reference to Pearisburg, VA? I have an old friend out that way, on Flat Hollow Road. I'm under the impression you're pretty close to his neck of the woods. |

Hi JohnR:
___Welcome to the forums! From your post, I believe you came to the right place to ask questions in regards to your new X purchase. There are probably a few Acura dealerships within driving distance of your locale and even if you have to drive some ways, it will be worth your while given the deception you have already received. Remember, you can always get your X serviced at that local dealer but as far as purchasing … I would run as fast and as far away as possible from the dealership you visited given the forced options and ridiculous pricing on those options they revealed to you.
___If you have not visited Acura’s corporate web site recently, they have a great Dealer Locator link that should help you find a more respectable dealership. Just click on the link and away you go. I have used that link myself on a few occasions and find it to be indispensable to anyone shopping for an X.
___Good Luck

There are no wheel locks or cargo mat on my 03' Base. I don't believe they come with the Touring either. Check Edmunds.com or Acura.com for actual standard equipment.
I agree with the other posters above, this is a bad deal espically since some people in your part of the country are getting discounts off MSRP with no forced options.
Try a search on this site for "Discounts 2003" and go to the "dealer rating" link at top of page and look up Duncan. |

I don't know where you get the wheel locks standard info, because I have a new 03 in my garage with NO wheel locks! Also, the Acura literature does not support your statement! |

Just wanted to put this dealer in bold so everyone would know what kind of a wide variety of organic matter they are feeding customers.
Almost ran out to the garage to look for wheel locks on my 03. Glad I read the rest of the thread. Saved me a trip. |

| DESALES |
| Wheel locks or cargo trays are not standard on any of the MDX's. Many dealerships such as mine put wheel locks on any stock MDX (or any other vehicle) that is in inventory to protect the Wheels on our lot. This is listed on the window sticker as optional equipment but can be negotiated away with ease. If you are "starting negotiations at $1895 over MSRP for these few accesories, maybe you should drive up and see me in DE! We have 3 in stock! No forced options. |

What can I expect as reasonable dealer charges for the following accessories:
Towing Package
Base Carrier Kit
Body Side Moulding
any input appreciated |
|
|
| DESALES |
Accesory prices vary from dealer to dealer and of course most dealers put a nice mark up on the window sticker, (our dealership included) That being said push for the dealer to AT LEAST match the internet pricing that is listed on the Acura.com website.
Target pricing for your accesories should be:
Towing Package $1200 including Hitch, Transmission Fluid Cooler, Power Steering Fluid Cooler
Base Carrier Kit (Roof Rack) $300
Body Side Moulding $150 (consider purchasing this from Tim at Acura World and you can install yourself in 20 Mins)
Keep in mind that accessories that are installed by the dealer at time of sale are covered under the 4yr 50,000 mile warranty, whereas adding them later from a dealer only allow you a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty.
Hope this helps! |

This is not true. Check the third section: Accessories Installed by the Dealer After Retail Sale |

Thanks zafer! I was composing a reply questioning DESALES' statement but lost it before I could post it (I hate it when actually work gets in the way of the really important tasks! :D ). Thanks for posting the actual scanned image from the manual... takes away all doubt.
It worries me some that the statement came from a dealer. What else could my dealer be 'misinforming' me about? :13:
I guess that's one of the reasons this site is so great... when in doubt, ask it here and someone is likely to have an answer! :17: |

| Thanks for the correction! I was actually trying to make the point of the warranty gained by having the dealer install the accesories vs. doing it yourself, but definitely messed that train of thought up in my previous post!!! Thanks for catching this! |

Just curious if its an option for a dealer to install these cooler kits (ATF and Power Steering) or if they must be installed?
Could a dealership skimp on these if it is not explicitly spelled out on the form?
I know I'm going to check mine first thing I get my car just to make sure (there's a great install guide on HondaAcuraWorld that will help you verify it was installed correctly).
