Can anyone confirm how the shift knob is removed/replaced? Is it something that can be done yourself. So far all I have been able to find is comments that people think it just screws on...does anyone actually know?? Thanks
I know for a fact that it screws on.

:D
Visit the club and you can find out on picture area,

Unscrew old one then screw on the new one, easy.

Of course add come force to make it happen.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the info. Guess i will buy one from the guy here ,(tim?), who sells discount accessories. No reason to pay the dealer! Also thanks for the info on the club at yahoo, I'll check that out as well.

Anyone had a block heater installed? Is that a dealer only install?
Thanks

$88.40 best price you can get ANYWHERE !!!!
It's worth noting here that if you get a Sable interior, Acura strangely supplies an ebony leather-covered shift knob! Tim warned me about this, and I went for the burlwood knob and think it looks great. Why they were too lazy to match the original leather knob to the interior I have no idea--it's one of the rare (if trivial) examples of Acura cutting a corner, IMHO.

For those of you with the Ebony interior, you might be happy with the original shift knob.

Where can I get a Titanum shift knob for my MDX ?
e-bay has all kinds of shift knobs. you might want to check out those auctions.

I got the burl knob from Tim, installed it, it looks fine, a lot better than stock in the saddle interior.

Tim had pointed out that the burl knob is a little shorter and a bit of the screw thread still shows on the shaft. I'm not sure if I would have notice it if he hadn't mentioned it. Is everyone's the same way? Tim suggested there maybe was a way to unscrew the chrome bottom it would fit better. Has anyone done this?

On the new burl wood knob, the chrome "boot" on the bottom screws off an is only about 1.5 cm. The original shifter boot is about 5 cm long, and does not seem to screw off. Anyone know what I'm talking or have a fix?
Well, I looked more carefully at the 2 shifters.

The original shiftknob has a plastic chrome bottom boot that snaps on with 2 tabs. If you pull and bend it, it snaps off the knob.

The burl knob has a short metal base that scews off. It does not appear that the bases can be exchanged

With a rubber jar opener I was able to screw the burl wood knob down one more rotation until just 1 thread shows (it is darn slippery) I guess that the best that can be done.
