Drove my new X home on Thursday afternoon, put it in the garage and started installing my options. I had the dealer put on the 3M Clear Bra, the trailer towing package and the body side molding.

Here's a list of the opt's I installed myself, the approx. time and comments about the installation:

Burlwood Shift Knob:
Less than 5 min. The comments regarding a couple of threads show are valid, but I don't notice it.

Side Steps:
If I include getting all the tools together and putting them away, 1 1/2 hours, set my impact wrench at about 25 psi which generates about 18 ft/lbs and went at it. Had to torque down the bolts going into the frame by hand. A very easy installation.

Gold Package (rear):
The pieces on the rear end took about 45 minutes and I found dental floss to work the best for "cutting" off the old pieces. The ACURA letters pop off using a utility knife. Hardest part was removing the old glue.

Gold Package (front):
I removed the bumper to install the mounting plates for my tow bar and this installation went very easy. Taking the bumper off is fairly straight forward, I'd guess 1/2 hour and then changing out the parts and putting it back together about another 1/2 hour.

Cargo Net and Cargo Cover:
Opening the boxes took longer than the installing.

Wheel Locks:
Can you turn a wrench?

WeatherTech floor mats:
My dealer threw in MDX mats, so now I have 2 sets. Haven't fitted the WeatherTech's yet.

RoadMaster Tow Bar Mounting Plates:
BIG JOB! You have to remove all the fascia's from the front end, the bumper, the inner bumper, the windshield washer bottle and part of the air plenum on the drivers side. You use 2 existing holes in the frame and then drill 4 holes (2 per side). Putting the spacers inside the frame (about 12" into the frame) was tricky. Lucky for me my wife has very small hands, I don't. Time; 2 people (my friend is a top notch machinist) 5 1/2 hours.

Wiring the X for running lights when being towed:
About 1 1/2 hours with some help from my wife stringing the wire under the X. Most of the time running down the right wire to cut and putting in the diodes.

Ash Tray & Lighter:
Haven't done this one yet.

Love the X, so far, what a great SUV. Headed for Las Vegas and warmer weather.
