I have to agree with the statements exspessed above . The
Pacifica will do like many of the other Chysler products have done. Lot of ohhs and ahhs when they roll out in production form mirroring the Concepts but the long term quality and poor residual values will bring those buyers back to other true highline luxury products like Acura and BMW !!

I dunno, guess time will tell but Chrysler does seem to get it right with all the bells and whistles many buyers want and for a reasonable price.

But I do think that calling Acura a "true highline luxury product" is a stretch if the X we've got sitting out in the driveway is any example. Good fit and finish and hopefully a very reliable vehicle, but lousy paint job, clunking brakes, more sunroof wind noise than usual, thin windshield, single climate control, etc. Don't get me wrong, the X is a VERY nice vehicle, but highline luxury - no way!

The Acura is just missing a few minor details, to be considered as a luxury vehicle in the class of Lexus, BMW, etc. :2:
Fake wood is definitely one of them.

Here's something interesting on the "plood" or fake wood concept....

When I worked at a Jaguar dealer (served 5 years), one of the big selling points of the car was that it had genuine burlwood with boxwood inlays on the interior. What they found is that veneers glued to metal frames do not hold up well to the extremes of heat and cold in enclosed car interiors, and would crack and chip off, or the shellac would crack and flake.

The only way that Jaguar found to make the wood hold up in the long run was to put a very thick decoupage-like material encasing the wood. And that made it look almost like, you guessed it, plastic!

Genuine wood in vehicle interiors is overrated IMO.

There is no above; did you mean to Reply in the other Pacifica thread rather than start a new one?
