After months of waiting, our Midnight Blue Pearl MDX is snugly tucked into the garage. I'll post a couple of pics here and then "load up" in the member gallery when I get time. Kind of overcast today so, the pictures aren't that spectacular (but the MDX is :D).

Overall, the buying/delivery experience was pretty good (other than the wait). No extra pressure to buy anything more than what we ordered (which was no dealer installed options). Paperwork went smoothly/quickly. Salesman spent as much time as we wanted going over the features. Talked with the sales manager and was introduced to the service manager. Got the usual, Acura pen and keychain in the 'leather' manual holder. Even got a bottle of champagne from our salesman (an interesting gesture). :7:

Now... off to hondacuraworld.com to order some accessories!

This one was taken while we were still at the dealer... (it won't be this clean again for a long time)...

Just picked up mine today too! No pics yet. Even my wife hasn't seen it yet.

Congrats.

Great taste in color!
I will be ordering mine this week in NY with Midnight Blue touring w/ navigation
Dealer told me wait time is still 3-4 months!
What did you do in the meantime to kill the time??
I am also going to order many acc. from Tim because dealership cannot match prices and I think I speak for all that we already paid to much for this vehicle at MSRP!!

Oh well:eek:

Q: What did you do in the meantime to kill the time??

A: Spent time on AcuraMDX.org, of course... living vicariously through, and bonding with, my MDX brethren... :D

This site was (and still is) a wealth of information. I felt extremely confident going into this purchase (mostly because of this site). It's a great community of folks. I got to 100 posts before I even had the X. :)

Hey guys, I have the same color MDX and I LOVE it! What I recommend it getting some Zaino and put about 5 coats on it while the finish is spanking new. It is mid-January here in Ohio and salt all over the roads. Still, even after simply hosing the salt and grim off the road (easily I think thanks to the Zaino) my car stands out on the road with a deep, super glossy shine.

Next GET THE XENON upgrade...highly recommended! I got almost all my accessories from eBay...seems to be a lot of Acura MDX suppliers on there...most notibaly Excalibur, and the bidding starts NO RESERVE! Here is a list of upgrades I got all from eBay.

- Fender Flare Kit (paid $400, $900 I think from Acura...had them painted to match, which looks a LOT better for another $200)

- 8000K Xenon kit (paid $300 for headlights and $395 for matching fog light kit...stock TOO dim and look like crap compared to now! Not even avail. from Acura...which is a surprise??)

- Lighted Side Steps ($250! This is cheap copared to $900 from Acura and good quality)

- Cargo net ($19 new fro eBay! $40 option from Acura)

- Wood shift nob ($29 new from eBay! $100 option from Acura)

- Sunroof visor ($39 from eBay! $90 option from Acura)

- Winter mats ($100 from Mats.com, but worth it if you have the tan interior, match perfectly and can hod a gallon of water...get the carpeted ones, they look better than the all rubber mats)

- Zaino Bros polish. First heard about the stuff here and it was cheap...took some time to apply but WOW....my car looks like it's always wet!)

I would like to get the update for the DVD on myu Navigation...the '02 DVD is actually for '01 and already showing signs of outdated...does anyone know where to get one cheap...dealer asking for $150....I would think spending $40,000 on a car that the salesman would provide it as a courtesy, but as we know the MDX is a hot ticket item and they are charging a ridiculous premium for everything.
My MDX gets commented on almost ever single time I stop for gas "wow, that's a great loking car...what wax do you use?" Will take some pics for posting once the weather clears up and I can get it washed.

What can I say? The MBP is THE color choice! Congrats on your new X! We look forward to more of your posts & pix!:4:

Get the Xenon upgrade next, it was the best upgrade along with the Zaino polish. For $365 you can get them from a reputable guy on eBay...(HID source or something like that is the sellers eBay name.) They hook up in a snap for the headlights and you can put the ballasts anywhere in teh engine compartment with two sided tape. I was worried that this was going to be hard but took me 5 minutes and I am an idiot when it comes to auto repair or mechanics. You have to see the difference when driving, AMAZING! Better than my cousin's $90,000 Mercedes S500 or a friend's 7-series BMW. They can't believe how much light and the clarity my MDX puts out over their's. Simply put it makes the car stand out at night far more than I ever thought. I love them so much I just bid on the same kit for my fog lights too. DO NOT use those cheap blue bulbs from AutoZone or a parts store!!!!!!!!! I see that I tried them and the wattage is too much for the crome finished light deflectors in the MDX....they were starting to melt my light housing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Xenons burn cool so no worries.

They've paid for themselves already ten fold as I was able to spot a heard of white tail deer approaching the road at full speed a while back! I could see their eyes light up even though the deer were well off to my left....the other cars coming from the other direction weren't as lucky and 2 cars got some serious damage, while thanks to the Xenons I drove away in my shiny MDX!

Do you find approaching cars beaming you to turn off your high beams, even though you don't have them on? We encounter this every time we drive. It gets a little annoying, but sometimes it ticks me off and I just have to give them a dose of the high beams, too! I feel sure all they can see in their field of vision for the next few minutes is the imprint of my lights blinding them!:22:

No, I have no problems at all. I did have someone switch me their hi-beams maybe 2 or 3 times and my dad complained once when I drove behind him on a road trip. But overall, no problems at all and I've had my Xenons for 3 months.

I think those that have trouble are typically senior drivers with sight problems anyhow...the Xenons, I explain are not more intense brightness-wise but rather improved lighting and spectrum. Anyone that complains is just pissed because the stock bulbs in most cars look like a flashlight compared to the Xenons...he he.

By the way, speaking fo stock bulbs...Acura is using a very disappointing LOW-quality and output stock headlight and fog light bulb. Even Philps SilverStar bulbs note a dramatic improvement, but still not comparable to the "Xenon-like" lighting that they claimed...I know I had them in my MDX and threw them away.

I recognize the dealership, too! It would have to be Pauly on 41! Nice dealership.

Well congratulations! I'll keep my eye out for another MBP around my area. So far I've only seen 1! Same for SBP...only 1 so far in an MDX....a handful in Pilot's (including my neighbor) and Odyssey's though.

Hi Steeler560:

___A few items to add …

___Do you know the difference between 4100K, 5000K, 6000K, and 8000K HID’s? Do a few searches on the subject in the forums for some of our respected members own inputs, recommendations, and links.

___From one fellow E-Bayer to another, decent deal on the Fender Flares. Lighted side steps … Well let’s just say they are not quite OEM enough for most here. Cargo net, not bad. Wood Shift Knob … You know this is also not a genuine Acura part, right? Look at where the logo was placed as well as the indent on the top. I can’t say which is better just yet but I thought you might be interested in the differences. Winter mats. There are a few to choose from now. For that price, Tim’s got you covered with either Acura OEM or WeatherTech’s and as always, shipped free. I just hope I never spill a gallon of Pepsi or H2O on the mats ;)

___With E-Bay, patience is a virtue so always be more than a little careful IMHO.

___Good Luck

From what I've seen for myself the 5000K, 6000K and 8000K represents the actual color of the light output, not the light intensity as some believe...the lower the number the more white the light, the higher the number the more blue to output will be. Frankly, the 8000K I have on my MDX is a nice blue/violt tint to it and provides excellent visibility. A friend on mine replaced the factory Xenon that came with his BMW to 8000K after seeing my MDX.

As fas as eBay, agreed, need to check out the sources. I have purchased virtually everything from a seller named Excalibur our of Nebraska, genuine Acura parts and packaging and almost all auctions are no reserve. Ships fast and a great deal if someone is not afraid to tackle the job themselves. The shifter I got is geniune from the same seller, but I did see some that look inferior quality. The side steps resemble the ones that my dealership tried selling me with the added touch of entry lighting. Since my MDX is black they look great, not sure how they would do on a light colored car. The manufacturer did have some issues with a bracket for the MDX/Pilot sidesteps but was very honet and reshipped a new bracket before I even noticed the defect. I easily installed the sidesteps and had a sound shop wire the lighting to my dome lighting circuit for $20. The mats are from WeatherTech....I got the carpeted ones and no, ha ha, no 2 liter bottle testing going to be done on my behalf. All in all I came out extremely pleased. I will post some pics one day soon
