After looking throughout the site, I didn't see ANY discussions on this add on. Any expieriences with this. Looks? Did it help with the wind noise issue? ( it may deflect wind a bit higher over the roof rack which seems to be the cause for some of the noise) I suspect the deflector would be good for windshield bug deflection, if this is an issue for anyone.
Thoughts?
(Hope to order ours (MDX) on the 26th with arrival in MAY!!) |

| Is that you Jeff? There was discussion a month or so ago about the front air deflector and if I recall correctly the belief was that it added to the noise problem as well. The moon roof visor and roof rack were also mentioned as culprits. Due to washing complexities and the way the front air deflector is attached (possibly causing paint fading or discolloration underneath) I am going with the nose mask. |

Nope, Just Joe in MI. Do you know where that discussion is/was?
I could see you point about the noise. Surprised about washing issue 'cause I see so many of them on vehicles around here

| The Photo area has a post w/pics by dallasMDX. Otherwise...you might try searching the site for keywords, or you could probably PM or email dallasMDX. I'm wondering if its clear or a darker color? I think it looks kind of sharp on the black. He also has the moonroof visor. |

Dmor,
Thanks. I don't know how I missed those pics! I Pmed him about impressions. Thanks again.

| Great! Please post the results! :) I'd also like to know if it would alter air current enough to assist in deflecting a few stones otherwise headed for my windshield. I'm on my third on the Blazer...and probably should consider replacing the current windshield before I trade or sell it. There's only so much those "liquid glass patches" can hide. |

We saw a SS with the front air deflector on it yesterday. The deflector seems to be well made and fit well. However, we (especially the wife!) did not like the way it looked.
To be fair I have already stated my bias of prefering the MDX "naked" |

Thanks to you folks above. I don't know how I missed that site. I wouldn't have started this one! OOPS.
Anyway still trying to decide if I should put one on or not. I hate the bugs here in MI and it should save a chip or two on the hood (although not as good as a mask/bra.) I've had masks for my I30 and Previa. They worked great- especially on longer trips, but I was alway worried about them being wet. Also, on my Dark Green I30, it seemed to act like a mild polisher on the hood- due to some fine grit getting under the mask. No mask for our MDX, Deflector is still in question. -of course, we don't have our vehicle yet. Should be in may if we can get the mBeige later this month.

You might try the "invisible bras" discussed elsewhere in this forum. There are several different companies that offer precut pieces each one with apparently slightly different shapes. They are expensive and it may be hard to find someone with any appreciable experience installing them as the product is somewhat new to the general consumer market.
My wife and I originally wanted the front deflector as well but did not like the shape or the impact on the clean look of the "naked" front end of the MDX of course IMHO. Good luck!

Ray,
Read up on that ib elsewhere. Not sold on that. Thanks
A bit off topic- did you install the moonroof deflector yourself? Does it make a meaningful difference. I've owned vehicle since '85 with a moon/sun roof and haven't broken down to putting one on. May finally add it to our MDX when we get it (MAY????)

Redwing,
Yes, I installed the moonroof deflector, it’s a snap. I'm not sure that it does anything for the noise when the moonroof is closed but it definitely helps both the noise and the airflow when the moonroof is open. However, I have noticed that dirt and other stuff collects on the inside area where the deflector meets the roof and the only way of really detailing this area is to remove the deflector, not really a problem though. We live in the Sunbelt and my wife likes to drive with the moonroof open almost all the time so it was worth the small cost and detailing headache.

Ray,
Thanks
DallasMDX also pm'd me back. Not alot of details, but he liked the front deflector. I don't know where he got it from, nor if it performs for bugs/stones and the ubiquitous (sp)- for some- wind issue.
Stay tuned, if I find out more I'll post

I actually was stupid enough to purchase the front deflector....
Once I received it and actually saw how they expected it to be mounted, I put it back in the box and shipped it back.
Problems:
It is green. (I hate green, plus my MDX is mesabeige)
It rests on the paint on the leading edge with a rubber 'gasket'. grit will get in here and destroy the paint.
It requires 2 GLUE ON supports to be placed on the hood.
Get a Black mask or a Invisible Bra. At least you can take the mask off and clean it.
I was particularly pissed having ordered it on October 4 and waited until February before seeing the fine engineering effort by Acura's finest.
10k miles and a few chips later, I am looking at the stonegard....

Ard,
What is stoneguard? I didn't look at this mdx site. Is this the inv. bra I've read about?
I admit, if I put one on, it's be ther for life, or I'd always replace if/when it looked shabby.
You've raised some good points. I'm going to look around here on vehicles that have them on and check out what you said. Makes sense. I wonder if design matters as I suspect there is more than one design available. I'm going to call autoshade (800 241-7219) to hear what they have. Nothing was on their website. |

Discussion on clear bras here:
http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...hp?threadid=798
I just put one on my new F250. Mounts under the hood, and sweeps put, up and oevr the front edge. Never touches the paint. You can actually wash and wax under it without removing it.... what a concept Acura.
Lund is the manufacturer.. nothing on the horizon per their phone people (but admittedly their horizon ends at 5PM or thereabouts. ) Who knows what development is working on. Problem is, the MDX is so low volume, would any aftermarketer be interested if it required tooling?

| I just installed Stongard few days ago and the installer told me that DO NOT WAX AND POLISH it because the friction can put so much heat in the plastic that will eventually melt down. |
|
|

I suppose if you employ a blow torch when waxing and polishing, he may have a point....
You've got to be kidding me. Wax and polish by hand, don't use a buffer. You cannot generate more heat than it will see in the central valley of CA (or Arizona or New Mexico) in summer...
Does he speak from any experience, or is this his expert opinion?
